I am 30 years old and am trying to conceive my first baby. I have PCOS and just saw my doc today. She put me on metformin 3 pills daily and clomid as well. I am so hoping to see a bfp in the months to come. She mentioned checking my tubes in the office if we dont conceive after so many months of trying well it slipped my mind to ask how they check your tubes because I was trying to absorb everything she was saying lol and I was so excited to finally see her and happy she was helping us out. Have any of you ladies had your tubes checked and how do they do that  . Thanks for any info you may have.

I'm so sorry you've been TTC for so long. It's good that you can get started on testing. Hopefully it is some easy fix and you will have a baby in your belly soon!

They check your tubes usually with an HSG. I can't give any insight on exactly how it is because mine is next week but I can tell you what I've read. It is a procedure where they insert dye into your uterus and it will flow out through your tubes. If it doesn't flow properly, they know that there is a blockage. They can see all of this on some sort of x-ray type machine. In case no one tells you, I've been told to take 2-3 Advil an hour before as you may get some AF like cramps. Also, there is an increased chance of pregnancy for a few months after the procedure as it can clear out some "cobwebs" so to speak and make getting pregnant a little easier. Also, are you in the US or UK? That should be one of the first tests they do just to make sure there aren't any problems...especially since you have been TTC for so long anyway.

Good luck and lots of :dust:

Thank you so much for replying. I am in the US. Yes we are praying that it works for us very soon. Hopefully they will check my tubes in the next 3 months. We are waiting on our insurance as well my hubby is signing up for it and the doc understands and tries to help with waiting on things that are more expensive so we can bill insurance and wont have to pay an arm and a leg in cash :dohh:
