Hi there, so this isn't my first baby but it's my first that I've been able to exclusively breastfeed with anyhow I have a few concerns and I'm hoping some of you seasoned mamas can help especially if any of you have had smaller babies...
My baby was 6lbs 14 oz at birth, he got down to 6 lbs 4oz when we left the hospital, at his one week appointment he was 6 lbs 3 oz but then he actually lost more weight and got down to 6 even, I decided on my own to give him an extra 3 oz of formula a day until I spoke with some friends and they said I didn't need to so after just 2 days of supplementing, I went back to exclusively breast feeding, today he is 3 weeks old and though he is finally starting to gain weight, it is very slow, he is still only 6lbs 7 oz but that's up from dropping down to 6 lbs...should I be worried, should I start supplementing? One of my friends said "technically he's a preemie so he's not going to put on weight as quickly as a full term baby" he was born at exactly 37 weeks.
