Hopefully I'm posting in the right place. Looking for some reassurance as I'm a nervous wreck right now, but I understand it's in God's hands.

I turned 40 on July 25th of this year. In May of this year I experienced a miscarriage at 5 weeks. I had to have a d&c a couple of weeks later because my body would not expel the products of the pregnancy. My husband and I then went on a strict organic diet with lots of the right vitamins and received a full fertility scan at the hospital, which we passed all tests with flying colors/great results. My FSH was 8, which my dr said is always important regarding ovarian reserve.

I got pregnant again and based on my last mentrual of Sept 19th, I'm 6 weeks+2 days and last week I started experiencing light spotting (pink) that went away after two days, so I was relieved. The bleeding was never enough to fill a pad; only drops but I always saw it when I wiped. I should also mention that my dr has me on 200mg of Prometrium twice per day to give additional support to my uterine lining he said. I insert a pill vaginally in the morning and before I go to bed at night.

Yesterday, the light spotting (pink) started again. Today a small blood clot came out on the tissue when I wiped (TMI, sorry) which made me freak. The blood clot was dark red. If it was grey I would have freaked out more because I'm told often than enough that's the embryo. Now the bleeding has stopped again or at least for now. I have absolutely no other symptoms like cramping or backaches. My boobs are still sore and I even took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came back positive.

On Oct 21st I had testing done: BHCG was 2,234 and Progesterone was 18. I started taking the Prometrium on Oct 24th and the first episode of light bleeding started Oct 26th.

I don't know what to think at this point. My dr appt isn't until Monday, but I'm praying that I don't experience another miscarriage. I have a 9 year old son and another son, which I call my bonus child (i.e. step son) so my husband and I would love to have a child together to round out our family.

If anyone could give me any insight I would appreciate it

Just sending thoughts and prayers your way.....I think it a great sign that your test was showing positive :). Keep those happy thoughts and try not to worry....Monday will be here before you know it!

I'm not an expert, but I would think it's the extra progesterone. Before I got pregnant with my DD 4 years ago, I was having bleeding issues where I was bleeding for a few weeks straight and was prescribed Prometrium to stop the bleeding. It worked, but I had tiny clots for the first 2-3 days after taking the pills (orally). Hormones are how everything "female" in our bodies work and as soon as we upset that balance, something always happens. :)

Good luck on Monday! Let us know how your appointment goes.

You could have a subchronic hematomia. About 20% of women develop these and it is a blood pool that attaches to the placenta. I had one and had bleeding in my early weeks then it bled out it the 6th week. It was like having a period and clots for an hour. I've had light bleeding occasionally ever since. Baby is doing well though. Your doctor can see the hematomia on Monday. If you start bleeding, just rest a bit... It seems to go away if I rest... Good luck...

Thank you so much ladies!!!! I promise to update you on Monday. Having had experienced a miscarriage, it takes your mind to so many different places, but I'm prayerful and believing on God's promise that he'll give us our heart desires.

I had brown spotting/bleeding off and on for 2 weeks. Thankfully, it's been 10 days since I've had any and that has really brought my stress down.

I agree that it's likely the prometrium but I'm confused why you were put on progesterone when your reading came back at 18 without it. Am I confused on that? Just curious because 18 is well within normal range! I was told they like to see it at 15 or above so just wondered!

Hi Ladies,

I have very good news to report! My husband and I had our 1st u/s appt. this morning. Everything is going well. The baby is measuring right on time - 6wks/6days. We also heard the heartbeat twice - 140 bpm. I can't tell you how relieved I am. I have a follow up appt. next Thursday becaise my dr. found a 1 cm SCH near the sac which he said either I'll pass it or my uterus will absorb it. This is where my random light spotting was coming from. Hopefully by the time of my next appt. the SCH will be gone :) So to Garnet - You were absolutely correct! You may need to go into the medical field.

Mommylam: My dr. said that 18 is good but he put me on progesterone (prometrium) until 9 weeks as insurance he said. He primarily wanted to ensure my uterine lining remained strong.

I really didn't like dealing with the vaginal suppositories at first but I had a miscarriage just 4 months ago and I never knew why I loss the baby. I still think that maybe when I previously miscarriaged it had something to do with my progesterone, but I can't be certain. For this pregnancy, my husband and I got on a serious vitamin regiment and began eating organic. I just pray that God continues to show favor and bless my body to carry what will be a beautiful addition to our family.

May we all have happy and healthy pregnancies and God Bless!

GREAT news! Congratulations on hearing the heartbeat!!!

Great News! I hate those SCH because you are already nervous about losing the baby then you start bleeding and you don't know what is going on...

I so agree with you about the SCH.....it does drive you crazy!! Yesterday I had some bleeding which was red then later redish brown. I emailed my dr and asked him if it was from the pelvic exam/ultrasound and he said it's probably nothing to worry about and to contact him if it's followed by cramps, heavy bleeding, etc.

I'm excited Ladies to have heard the heartbeat because of the chances associated with the drop in miscarriage percentage. But on the other hand, I can't help but to think about the last time I was pregnant; heard the heartbeat then the following week the heartbeat was slower. I feel next week will be the real revelation for me hearing it again. My husband is so super excited and keeps mimicing the sound the ultrasound machine made when it picked up the heartbeat. It's really cute and I keep asking him to do it over and over again.

Garnet how far along are you and Michelle I can't wait to be where you are at 20 weeks!

I am 12 week 3 days. I've been on progestone since Day 21 in August. I stop progestone this Sunday!! Scary!!

Garnet my dr told me I can stop at 9 weeks. I'm really afraid to do that and probably will ask him if I can continue to at least the end of the first trimester. Is this your first pregnancy? I have a 9 year old son and a son who is 14 years old that I call my bonus child because my husband had him when he was in college. He is such a great kid and I am truly blessed to have two great boys! Another child would really round out our family and would like both are children which is special.

What wonderful news :). I'm so excited for you and your husband!!!

Some Doctors are different. I was given a prescription until end of my 1st trimester... I am scared . I have 4 children and this is our last one. I have two out of college and two who are 6 and 3. I got remarried at a later age to a man who didn't have children. Some days are hard but others are worth it...
