I'm so confused - i thought we were doing really well with the feeding but Lucas has dropped from just below the 50th percentile to just below the 25th percentile. He's only gained 2oz??

The HV says we should increase his feeds but i'm not sure how we can possible increase these as he already feeds at 7am, 10.30am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm.

Anyone got any insights?

:hugs: Try not to worry, as hard as it is. As long as he's having plenty of wet nappies, all is well - he's obviously thriving!

Alyssa has dropped from the 75th centile at birth to the 2nd - she's just a naturally slow weight gainer; it's not uncommon for her to gain only an ounce or so a week (she's 4 1/2 months old now and has only put on just over 3lbs since birth).

All I am doing is BFing her on demand - she won't eat if she's not hungry - and I'm also still getting up to nurse 2-3 times a night.

It sounds to me like Lucas is doing brilliantly - just not gained as much this fortnight - doesn't sound like anything to be worried about, in my opinion.

If you want to chat, feel free to PM me hon :hugs:

aww thanks girls! Anna I have just added you on facebook so hopefully you can help spur me on, I am so determined that my baby is staying on booby juice til at least 1

Babies all gain weight at different rates. Kaya barely gained anything in her first month, but she was a big baby and didn't really need to. If you need any help or support with the BFing, I'm just up the road in Forfar and have done the peer support training.

MY little one had only gained 2oz in 2 weeks on #Fri and I hve been pressured into giving formula more!!! I am so lost and feel so guilty and like I am letting myself and H down. I know how you feel and I wanted to bf until atleast 1 too. I have loads of milk but need her to suck more efficiently.

 to you and stay strong!!

Ellie didnt gain much weight either like Anna said if theres plenty of wet nappies i wouldnt be to concerned. When Ellie didnt gain much weight i panicked and i ate loads of fruit and veg and drank loads and ate porridge and the week after she had gained 1lb! The health visitor told me that it was because my milk wasnt thick enough (load of bollocks if you ask me) but i just think she had a spurt. I stopped weighing Ellie so much because just causing stress for me so i get her weighed every 6-8 weeks.

I'm same as Emma, i've stopped having Ellis weighed as it puts too much unnecessary stress on me. Ellis is a great baby, very content, happy and alert. Plenty of wee-not so much poo but when i found out she'd only put an ounce on in 17 days i was really upset and it knocked my confidence. Incidentally none of the health professionals i deal with have ever been anything other than supportive, they've all said if she's happy with lots of wet nappies and not losing its fine x
