2 year old girl attacked by dog

Bugger that, that dog scares me half to death just looking at it. Not the dogs fault though, all dogs can snap at any time.

Ive for one have a huge fear of dogs if there bigger then a Cat, but at the end of the day i have the feelings the same as someone said , i would never buy a dog that was huge and had quite big teeth while i had children i'd never want to leave them in the same room.

Unfortunatly its come to the point where i have to point out to my girls which are 'dangerous dogs' and which ones they can go up to and look at. You just never know.

im sorry but any dog can be dangerous. Would you say your daughters can go up to a labrador? they look nice and soppy but are actually the most common biters.

Iv met more aggressive small dogs then big ones and they can also do alot of damage if they attack.

My dog is a labrador and peoples kids just come up and stroke him which is fine as he is actually very good with children but they dont know that. He could be a complete nutter and hate people touching him but they dont bother asking if its ok to touch him.

Even as a adult if i want to approach a dog i still ask if its ok for me to stroke them.

Its really unfair labelling a breed as "dangerous"

It says they were worried so why was the not not kept down stairs only?? I dont understand why the dog was allowed in the girls bedroom :( I have 2 staffys but I have my eye on them all time and they are only allowed downstairs, if I go out the room I put them in the kitchen/diner etc x

100% agree, I was attacked by a lab when younger, a lab puppy aswell. Not so sweet marley and me! Nearly blinded me.

No offence hun but i have to agree with that

You would probably tell your Little girls that my Bull terrier was dangerous .. but he was soft and loved kids, he was even in training for his good citizens award.

My sisters tiny cute fluffy Cockapoo is evil and would bite any child given the chance :growlmad: :nope:

I Think parents have a lot to answer to sometimes. We live in a detached property with a 6ft fence all around our garden and really there is no need for "anyone" to walk within 5 ft of our property. The amount of times I have found kids up at the gate winding my dogs up. I even found one little boy no older than 6 chucking stones and a bottle of coke over my doberman....Seriously if my dog bit the child I would be the one to blame. Makes me angry that some parents dont educate their children on safety around dogs!

tbh i know its the parent falut really but if i found my dog trying to tear aly's head off he would be dead within minutes. end of. on another note i love your dog LA xxx

I thought in Hypnorms post it said the owners had previously asked for the dog to be put down but the vets refused?

Anywhoo, without a second thought i would have shot the dog if it did that to anyone in my home, let alone my child. I think in situations like that your surivival instinct would kick in and you'd to 1 of 2 things ... stand and protect yourself and your family, or run and protect them

thanks for the kind words about my dog. I love him like a child!

But if there was any doubt in my mind about safety of my real kids or the dog stepped a toe over the line he would be gone. no questions asked.

I have a staff, a german shepherd and a chihuahua and the chihuahua is the one I have to keep the closest eye on around children.

I really dont like dogs :( i feel so uneasy around them.

The walk into town is through a park where people walk their dogs of the lead etc .. often they will come bounding up to my pram as im walking and jumpin at skye and the owners dont give a sh*t they literally are all ohhh come on come on come come in some idiotic high pitch voice and theres me having a panic attack my babies gonna get eaten .. some ppl are lovely though they see me walking and call their dog back and put it on the lead till ive passed.

Poor girl though hopoe she is ok :(

The thing is that the 'idiotic high pitched voice' is a tried and tested way of getting your dog to come back to you - as is jumping about like pillock and running in the opposite direction. Don't think that they don't care because they're doing that. The people that don't care are the ones that don't even bother trying to call away their dogs.

My heart goes out to this girl. Who in their right mind winds up a dog that a. has previously been aggressive and b. is an un-neutered male in the same house as a bitch in heat!

I could not agree more. I wouldn't hesitate killing a dog if it bit half my child's face off!

Of course i dont agree with just going around and killing dogs, but i wouldnt have thought the father stopped for a second and went

"hmmm what shall i do? lock it in the cupboard/tie it up/kill it etc"

No doubt his survival instinct just kicked in and he went with it, and like i said before, fair play to him for trying to protect himself and his family

same here hun i dont think people going around muring dogs for no reason

but at the end of the day he had a huge reason i would ov done the same thing i would of put my fingers in its eyes or any way to get it of my child

dont blame him one bit xxxxxxxxxx

a lady we no has a black lab and she says he is daft as rags thats the word we use for soft .but belive me he is not daft as rags he is the most snappy dog i have ever met a few times while walking past it has nearly had my leg or my fingers and she says awww behave boy

a dog is a dog i love it when people say my dog will never bite becuase they are soft with our family and never bit before any dog will bite weather its a jackrusseel to a greatdane

i got rid of my dog bailey for that reason he was snappy maybes only a pup but was a big pup and rough with the kids i use to think awww it will wear of he got long walks to teh beach etc until one day millie ran down the hall way and he jumped up grabbed her by her neck and took her to the floor she had bite mark in her neck and he was only a pup he was very powerfull .he wasa lurcher x deerhound an that how a lurcher takes a deer down by its neck i got rid of bailey the next day no question :growlmad:

and with paddy i gave him to a old man we no and told my other half i never wanted a dog again in my life becuase one i dont have the time for one adn 2 i just dont trust them around the kids

No seriously the amount of times ive had dogs jumping at my pram and the owners are just talking to them for like 30/40 seconds going ''come on come on'' i think thats totally unnaceptable .. they obv just stand there not really doing anything because its ''their'' dog and its ''not like that'' but who's to say my baby might not let out a cry the dog finds threatning and it completely goes for her .. these people should be straight there and taking their dogs away by the collar.

I just dont think its fair when i want to go out for a nice walk into town i get literally hounded by dogs.

I love the photos of your dog, so handsome a boy?

We are huge dog lovers also and are own are like children to us, there is never a moment when my baby is alone on the floor playing in her jungle gym with are dog, we know there is a 100 percent chance she could get snipped at.

As much as we love are pets we still need to remember they do bite and just when you feel safe and don't think they will, they do. Speaking from experience.
