Dilated ventricle
Increased echotexture in bowel

Anyone been through this or know anything please. Im seeing a specialist tuesday but wouldlike to prepare myself for what ever the outcome may be x

Hello lil-lauren,

I really wish everything goes well with your baby. I know how stressful ultrasounds can be. I know the fluid can go away by itself, it's quite normal. As for the other issues, just a question, what was the outcome of your prenatal screening? if those look normal, I would not worry until you have your next visit...

Best of luck and let us know how it goes...

Im going to sound dumb but whats a prenatal screening? Thankyou. I didnt know t fluid could go away onits own, thats a major help to me right now x

Did you have an ultrasound at 12 weeks to measure the Nuchal Fold? Often pregnant women have a blood test in the first and second trimester and a scan to measure the fluid at the back of the baby's neck. When all combined, you get your odds of a chromosome disorder. To be honest, it sounds like your baby may have a trisomy syndrome, but even if that is the case she can have a full and productive life and there is a lot of support out there!

Yep and the resylts were 1 in 23odd thousand so i qas classed as low risk. At first she said baby was helping and she didnt think she would be able to do the measurement but she said she managed to do it. Om now going to have a read about trisomy syndrome. Thankyou x

If your nuchal fold measurement and blood tests showed a 1 in 23,000 chromosome disorder risk, I would not think your baby has any trisomys, usually they are diagnosable at 12 weeks. I guess there is always the chance of being the "1", but I wouldn't worry too much.

Hope everything goes well on Tuesday!

I'm going through a similar thing! Had my 20 week scan friday to be told the baby's bowel is shining bright, it's called Echogenic Bowel and i've been referred to Fetal Medicine. I'm booked in for another scan tomorrow with a consultant.

I did the stupid thing and started googling, all sorts came up and I scared myself

I'll have everything crossed for you xx

Some say echogenic some echotexture but google say alot worse. Hope you get good results out of it. Mine us most likely shes swolled blood as i have problems with my placenta. Also i was told if they swolled poo it can happen. Doctors said its all fairly common and sounds worse then it is but there is always a chance for t worst its just better to be safe then sorry x
