team :yellow:!!!

I gave in to temptation and asked, but baby wasn't co-operating. Yellow is our fate!! :haha:

Baby is healthy and all the measurements are within 1 day of 19+6, so no change to our due date, and I am so happy we are blessed with a completely average child.

At my 16w appointment, the midwife said that if all the measurements pointed more than one week in one direction or the other, they would adjust the due date accordingly, but that it would have to be a pretty big difference from the expected measurements because there's more variability at 20 weeks than at 12 weeks. She also said it's pretty rare.

It was on my mind because I live overseas from my parents, and they want to come and help out for a few weeks, arriving ~2-3 weeks after the due date. We didn't want them making any flight or accommodation bookings until we had the all clear and the due date was definite. Now they can go ahead and book everything, it's very exciting!! This is really happening!!! :happydance:

i thought the whole point in the dating scan around 12weeks was its more accurate then cos all babies are the same size, weathers at 20weeks all babies are different sizes.
how long did you scan take? i have mine this afternoon nervous and exited xx

I thought so too, was a little surprised to hear the midwife say that. Regardless, I'm thrilled :happydance:

My sonographer was clearly very experienced and baby was co-operating beautifully apart from having the legs firmly shut. Baby wasn't moving too much, just gently waving hands and feet rather than the "swimming", twisting, and flipping around we saw at 12 weeks, and was in a good position for all the major organ checks and measurements. The sonographer was able to go from check to check in seconds, and then gave us a couple of minutes to just watch, which was lovely. She told us exactly what we were looking at as she checked it, which was nice, as I have heard some prefer to stay silent in order to concentrate. The whole thing took about 15 minutes. The appointment slots are, I think, 40 minutes, so they allow for unco-operative babies.

i see mine wasnt for co operating lol at my 7,9 and 12weeks scans it was just the back we saw lol x

Nawww congrats love. Not empted to get a private scan done then? We had one lined up just in case... we were THAT eager lol xx

No, we'll just wait now. We could afford one, but the temptation has passed and I'm content to find out on the day. It's our first, and we don't feel under any pressure either way from ourselves or from family.
