I feel so big:cry: my legs/arms look huge and I now know why! I haven't weighted myself for a while and I am now 150lbs. I started the pregnancy at 130lbs.

Have I gained way too much for 20 weeks??

i'm just past 18 weeks and i have gained 16lbs. :growlmad:

i want to cry everytime i pass a mirror. everyone says i'm all bump but hello????????? i can't pull my prepregnancy jeans past my KNEES. i saw the dr last week and i said i was concerned about my weight. he shrugged and said you are just 30. you look fine and will lose it no problem. i thought maybe a good stern warning from him would help me chill or something. i cried when i left. silly i know but i don't want all this extra non baby weight.

i guess i just wanted you to know that you aren't alone. :hugs:

btw on the dr's scale i was 124 at the very beginning and now i'm resting between 140 and sometimes even 141 now. and i'm 5'4.5" :dohh:

I feel the same way, honey. My total weight gain was 16 lbs at my 24 week checkup, and I was a big girl to start. I have been stressing out over it, but I got some great support from the ladies here on B and B, and as long as I put healthy foods in my body and limit the treats, I need to be ok with it and enjoy this time. Don't fret, your fine!

I too have gained over 20lbs - It was about that a while ago and I darent weigh myself since! lol.

My advice - stay off the scales! I'm going to now, as all it did was make me worry. I'm *trying* to eat more healthily (but that just aint happening lol) and i'm gonna go swimming next week (twice if I can manage it!). At least then if I still put on weight i'll know that i've tried to stay healthy.

:flower: Good Luck :flower:

If your doctor has not said anything I would say its okay.

I have so far gone from 138-153

Just popped over from 3rd tri.

Im 28wks and have put on 21lbs and apparently thats too much.

But hey ho! I put on LOADS with my first and it DROPPED off after so I wouldnt worry.

Here is a link that ive been using...although I never like what it tells me haha

I wouldn't worry too much hun.. i'm sure it'll all drop off ones bubs is here! x
:hugs:

ive put on 26lbs,,,,but i gave up work 2months ago and have done alot more sitting on the sofa lol
i told my midwife and she said its normal for second pregnancys. i feel huge but i know ill loose it quickly after the birth xx

Ive also put on about 20 pound! Before i was pregnant i was 127, now i'm 146-149 depending on the time of day, since weight fluctuates.
Try not to worry though, i'm sure it will come off once baby is here :)

I've not even looked  I put on only 10lb with DD but i think i have more with this one  I dont weigh myself i just dont pig out and so long as i feel ok i'm happy :)

I was 130 pounds before pregnancy and at my last Dr visit I was 141 pounds at 12 weeks.

I don't eat a lot of junk(I do sometimes) and I drink water

I started at 130lbs and Im 14 weeks and at 150lbs too :/ I feel your pain, its so hard to get that big that fast :(

I'm still 3 pounds less than starting weight, but I had lost 17 from sickness, so you can look at it either way. I'm big and my doc will be happy if I don't gain any at all.
I figure if the weight starts to be a problem I will follow a diet for gestational diabetes to help keep it in check.
If you weren't overweight to start with, I wouldn't worry, eat as healthfully as you can, and it'll come off later!

Thank-you girls for all the replies! I feel a lot better and like I am not alone.
All I want is for my little boy to be strong and healthy and I guess after he is born I will work hard to get rid of all the extra weight! I need to stop eating sweets too and concentrate on protein and healthier options!
Hugs to all of you and thanks for the support!

I had also put on 20lbs by 20 weeks. Honestly, I think the weight gain guidelines are a load of rubbish. Every woman is different and for some women, gaining more is normal and healthy.

I'm actually more worried about the women who dont' gain enough because recent research in epigenetics indicates that women not gaining weight (or even worse -- actually losing weight) in pregnancy causes the baby to activate genes to help it keep weight on (meaning later in life the child may have some weight problems).

Anyway, because this started depressing me I've sworn off weighing myself. For all I know it is mostly water weight or something - and I'm not really worried about going back to my pre-pregnancy size, I've always been relatively healthy so I am sure it will just come off on its own once my hormones are back to normal.

Hope this helps - you aren't alone, try not to stress about it.

Try not to worry about it too much. Just eat healthy as much as you can, and exercise...if you are the type to gain weight when pregnant, then that is what your body needs. I am the same way. I gained 90lbs with my son, and 60lbs with my daughter, and I have already put on about 40lbs with this one (mostly all in first trimester). I always lose the weight afterwards and I think my body just needs it. The doctors can a little annoyed, but I know it's just me. My twin sister was the same way, except she lies about her weight gain! lol. Everytime I talk to her she tells me that she gained less and less than the last time she told me. After your baby is born is when you can really concentrate on your diet and exercise.

Oh my gosh your not fat, sweety. I started at 130 as well and now weigh 148. So if your fat then I am too lol.

I'm 5'3" so getting used to being 141 pounds was a bit hard for me.
I guess when you get so used to being thin and then put on 15, 20, 30+ pounds it's hard even though you know it's for a good reason

I too have gained 19lbs and i'm just 23wks  i started at 140lbs.

Theres been a lot of threads lately where the girls have been gaining very little and some even losing which adds to our stresses when we are gaining more than what all these calculators say is normal. But like one of the other ladies says, we are all different and it's not fair to say how much weight we should put on if we are eating a healthy diet and getting a little exercise.

However, for me i know i could be eating healthier , I really need to get a handle on that just for mines and the babys health apart from anything else. I had been swimming once a week but that has gone by the wayside :dohh: I suffer from bad heartburn which doesn't bode too well in the swimming pool. Actually if it hadn't been for the heartburn i reckon i'dve put on a lot more weight.

So i think we should forget about the scales and concentrate on healthy diet and little bit of exercise everyday... whatdya think
