I am 5 and half months pregnant with our first child. This past couple of days and nights all I seem to do is run to the toilet. Last night I was up 10 times!! Is this normal or do I have a kidney infection?

Sorry if I sound stupid, never had a kidney infection before.

to put your mind at rest maybe take a urine sample to your doctors and they will check it . Do you have a fever or pain ?
I find even at only 17 weeks i have days when baby is laying on my bladder more so i jiggle or wiggle my hips to get them to move a little of the area xx

I pee every 20 mins, it's annoying:/. If you are concerned talk to your dr.

I am waking up that many times at night as well, and if I so much as take a sip of water during the day I have to go the the restroom at least 3 times in a half hour. My little man is sitting right on my bladder though, and every time he moves I have to go, even if it's just a tiny bit. I've tried moving my hips around and jiggling my lower abdomen to get him to move up, he just won't. He stays right down as low as he can get, and in every ultrasounds I've had so far, his head is always on my cervix. ARGH! lol.

I wee roughly 30 times a day :D Its a pain but what can u do :D

I go regularly to! Just remember pelvic floors. Not just for now but def after x

I had this problem with my first at about 19 weeks. It was horrendous. I actually got to the point where I thought I should just skip going to bed and sit on the loo all night. I went to the doctors and she agreed that needing to pee again almost as soon as I'd been didn't sound normal. She tested my urine and said it didn't show an infection but put me on Amoxicillin just to be on the safe side. It didn't make a difference as I still suffered random nights like this. The only thing I found that helped was to avoid any fluids for at least 3 hours before bedtime - which I really struggled with as I get so thirsty when pregnant x

I'm up almost every hour at night - I like to think it's nature's way of preparing us for when our newborns are up constantly haha. But like others have said, if you are concerned, definitely check with your doctor.

Thanks for the replies, I think baby is lying on my bladder. It not so bad during the day, but can get worser at night time, wee raschal keeping mammy up!

I think it's always worse at night because you notice it more. Like in the day, you can forget about it because you are busy but when you are laying in bed all comfortable and you feel that need to pee, it's hard to think of anything else! Hope that baby of yours moves off your bladder for you :)

Is there any pain when you go, particularly if you wait awhile to go? And when you go frequently, is it a lot or just a little bit that comes out? I went to the dr today for this exact reason (plus some back pain which apparently is not related), and they found I may have a UTI. Put me on antibiotics and sent my urine sample out to be tested just to be sure. Wouldn't hurt to consult your dr.
