Hi Mummas. I am 25 weeks pregnant and have been loosing little bits of my mucus plug over the last few months. Twice over the last week I have lost large chunks (see below pictures).

I showed the pictures to my midwife and they did a vaginal swap which came back all clear. My midwife doesn't know why this is happening and said to talk to my OB who I am seeing next Wednesday but she did say that the amount I am loosing is not normal.

I was told since there is not blood in it and I am not contracting then it shouldn't be anything major to worry about.

Has anyone else had this happen? what did your OB or midwife say?

A friend of mine lost big chunks like that throughout her pregnancy but it just kept regenerating!

It does regenerate itself, although that is a lot. Hope your OBGYN has good news.

I am hoping that it is just regenerating it self but I figured I had at least mention it to my OB in case I am wrong.

I.agree with mentioning it for sure!

That is an awful lot of plug to be losing so early but you can lose it for months til you go into real labor. When we begin contracting a dialating you lose a lil bit, the clear plug part but labor has red streaks and contractions that are close together. Im assuming it does regenerate but whats probly going on is you have dialated to a 1or 2 (which is totally fine) and are losing it over time cuz your opening up! But you can stay dialted for long time. I could feel my 2nd daughters head for last couple months before my water ever broke!I was dialited to a 2forever. Just watch for contractions ok hun. If they are coming at a steady pace even 10-15mins apart you could be trying to go into preterm labor.watch for leakage too. good luck.you r fine!
