We're at a friends house and the room is 27 degrees. Windows is open and we've left lo in just his vest and sleepsuit, no blankets etc. We have no fan and not sure what else to do, the whole house is warm because of the crazy warm weather. Will he be ok? :-( he's fast asleep btw, doesn't seem bothered... X

I used to look at this chart when I wasn't sure on sleepwear. Every baby is slightly different though.

We are at the in laws and it's 25 degrees in the room LO is sleeping in at the moment. We've just put her in a sleeping bag in nothing but her nappy.

Yes, I think just vest and sleepsuit is fine, no sleepingbag in that heat!

Where are you?

Oh darn, I thought her sleeping bag would be ok if she wasn't wearing pjs/vest or anything. She's asleep now, I hope she's not too hot :(

My lo point blank refuses to sleep without a bag. He's in a one tog with short sleeved vest and is fine so I'm sure she's ok twister.

No, I was saying no sleeping bag in the OPs 27 degrees, as vest and sleepsuit is on.

I think nothing but sleeping bag would be fine too!

....do remember there are different togs of sleeping bags too! We always have a 2.5 tog on, as my sons room is never more than 18-20 max

I'm in London! Thanks ladies, feel calmer now! Keep going to check him and he's absolutely fine xxx

Its 24 in my sons room, he gota temp so has gone down in just a vest and I am going to check on him later and throw a cotton blanket over him if need be. This weathers a bit of a shock! xxx

It's been about 36-37 degrees here daily recently so my room temp has skyrocketed. :nope: If I turn the A/C off the room temp instantly shoots up to 28 and our house is surrounded by towering trees! With A/C it's still pretty warm though, around 24.

I've just been leaving him naked with a diaper on, but he's also older. If he goes to sleep with anything on it's just a t-shirt. We don't use onesies anymore (vests in the uk?) but last year I just kept him in a onesie at night when it was hot.

Worried about this too.....LO's room is south facing and is the smallest in the house so a complete sun trap. Her rooms temp is 25c and the gro egg is bright red with an unhappy face! So we put her to bed in just a short sleeve vest with the window and door open (we will close the window when we go to bed). She went to sleep no problems and has remained asleep so far, so I presume she must feel comfortable enough....

this is so subjective. my LO has always run hot - he's asleep atm in shortie pj's in a room with the fan on... room temp is 23C. wind is still up, so can't have the window open, but the fan is a good compromise. we have the fan on whenever the temp goes above 21C.

freaky dayum weather.

Ciara's room is 27C too :-(. Was 28 when she first went to bed! She's literally just in her napoy with the fan on. No sleep bag.

My lg's room is 26 degrees. We have the fan on in there, the top window open and she's just in a nappy without a blanket. She seems fine.

It's so hard to judge isn't it! Los room usually starts off around 23 or 24, we go with short vest and 1 tog bag but usually end up removing bag as she gets sweaty! Then i worry all night and put some pj trousers on her as over night the room temp drops again! I guess theyd wake up if they weren't happy?! Anyone else change their minds and babys clothing sometimes a few times a night?!

Thanks for the reassurance. I think her sleeping bag is 2.5 tog. I wish I'd just put her to bed without it now as I'm lying in bed with no quilt and I'm roasting :( But her sleeping bag is a major sleep signal to her, we put her down for a nap without it on earlier and she just sat up in the travel cot where as usually she stays laid down. I also worry about the temp dropping through the night especially as the window is open in the room she is sleeping in tonight.

I'm sure she would have let me know if she was uncomfortable. Going to go check on her now.

It is to hard to know what to do for the best though isn't it!

Last night she started off in just a vest...then I got worried she was getting cold and put her in a sleeping bag (1 tog), then when I checked her again I took that off and put her in a pair of shorts (with the vest) and that's how she stayed. Tonight just a vest....(so far!!).

I am wondering if it's ok to leave the window open all night?

It is so difficult. We have left the window open in LO's room tonight, and we did last night too. I take comfort in the fact that there is fresh air coming in and even with the curtain closed at least there is some ventilation. I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable closing the window but that's just me.

At home our house doesn't seem to get as hot so we haven't had her window open at all but we will see what it's like when we get home tomorrow.

Yep I do. Tuck a blanket un tuck a blanket. Sleeping bag no sleeping bag. I've lost count the amount of times I've woken him up doing it:haha:

It was 27/28 deg in LO' s room last night and she had on a sleepsuit & 1.5 tog sleeping bag. Kept her window open all night and she slept fine until 3:45 when some guys coming home from the pub/a party walked past our house doing the drunk talking (you know, at FULL volume to make sure everyone can hear them!).

It all depends on the baby and what they are used to. LO' s room is rarely below 20 so she is quite happy being really warm. Tonight though I might just put her in a vest & sleeping bag. See how that goes, I'd be reluctant no to use her sleeping bag as, as someone else said, it really is a sleepy cue for her.
