Had a midwife appointment this morning and baby's head is 3/5ths palpable. I have read both sides - that second babies engage close to labour and also that they can be engaged for weeks!

Is this just another annoying "sign" that actually means nothing?! :dohh:

I heard this too! But with my 1st she was 3/5ths and came a week later! So I think it could happen ANYTIME! And even more so you being at 37 weeks, good luck! <3

Watching this as was the same at my appointment yesterday x

I've been told different things by different midwives which is slightly annoying. Also been measured differently.

One midwife measured me at 3/5 palpable at 35 weeks. Said there is still time for him to move out, but its a good sign he's engaged.

A week later, a different midwife measured 5/5 palpable (on brim). Said once he's there, he stays there.

I've also heard that with second babies, they can remain unengaged until birth and then just drop.

So goodness knows! :haha:

My second baby engaged at 36 weeks, a back-to-back position. He eventually came out of being engaged and went back in, properly. When he engaged in the proper position, I went into labor within about 24 hours. It could mean nothing, as second babies can often pop back out of place once they're engaged, or your baby could be comfy and stay there. I wouldn't take it as a sign that labor is coming, but I WOULD prepare just in case it is. :)

I hope it's not a sign of labour! I'm pregnant with my second and the past few days I've felt her engage. She will also disengage but she seems to be popping in and out quite a bit. I'm only 30 weeks! Far, far too early! I know my DH's family has the philosophy "if you're not early, you're late" but I would rather that meant she came at 38 weeks.:haha:

Don't want to frustrate you but my baby was 4:5ths engaged then two weeks later the head was totally free again , could be a sign but could just be we're baby is comfy x

Yep means nothing. My babys head has been well engaged since 34 weeks and i am now 40 weeks. All its meant is a lot of trips to toilet :(

My second was in and out like a bloody yoyo! Didn't fully engage until labour started so it doesn't mean a lot x
