Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself.

I came off by BC in May after getting married and this is our 2nd cycle actively TTC. Last month, I ended up getting a yeast injection right before O so that messed things up a little bit, couldn't BD and I've read candida makes an unfavorable environment for sperm. We were also using KY jelly for lube and I didn't realize that can damage sperm. We since switched to PreSeed and this cycle seems to be going okay so far. I think I might O today or tomorrow. It's my first time using OPKs and I got a positive result yesterday -- I was worried coming off BC that it would be difficult to get pregnant (and also being over 30) and it still could be but it's exciting to see your body doing all the things it's supposed to when you're paying close attention!

I am a nurse and I feel silly that I don't know more about fertility and conception. There is so much to learn and charting can make you crazy but it is exciting for sure. I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's stories, please feel free to post a little about where you are in your TTC journey and current cycles. Wishing everyone here so much luck TTC #1 :)

Hi Olive, that's funny that you say you are a nurse and feel silly about not knowing some stuff. I don't suppose that is they type of stuff they teach though - the lubes and temping and such. I am actually in nursing school (start my 2nd semester in a few days). When we were doing the conception unit, I felt so much ahead of everyone in my class because I had obsessed over it for the last year! I started temping about a year ago - and I tell you it will drive you crazy! A lot of doctors will tell women to stop once they seek fertility help. DH is glad to not have to hear the beep beep every morning, lol!

Good luck to you! This is a great resource to get people's opinions and just chat about stuff. There aren't usually too many people in our "real lives" that care to discuss varying cervical mucous descriptions, lol!

Hi
I am 29 ttc since 2015 (actively)
2014 mc @10 wks I've taken 3 rounds of 50, 100 & 150 mg of clomid. I'm just really trusting in God I will be blessed again. My advice is always stay positive and speak life to yourself never death meaning negative stuff.

I'm also recently off C and in my second month ttc.. have had a few symptoms but took a test yesterday and it was a BFN... AF isn't due for another few days though so hoping it's just too early to tell!

Hi Olive, I really hope that this happens quickly for you and you're not hanging around in TTC limbo for very long. It can be really emotional and confusing. I just want to say that back when I was at the 2-4 month point I was starting to feel a little frustrated but still confident it was going to happen. I really think staying positive early on has helped me now. If I had started feeling like I am now, way back then, this would have been a long road.

There's so much that I think we aren't taught or aware of about our fertility. I know I thought that you could get pregnant at any point in your cycle, even during AF.. I now know that there's a very small window and for the rest of the month it can't happen.

Try not to get too obsessed too early, but learn as much as you can. Knowing what your body is doing can definitely help. Temping has really helped me, but it might not be right for you. If you're thinking about tracking your cycles, I really recommend reading Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. I just got it out from the library and it was really informative.

Good luck :)

Good luck olive! I'm over thirty too and so I'm hoping you get it first off or super soon, gives me positive hopes! I suppose this makes it your first real cycle trying then isn't it? Very exciting! I am WTT atm, but am excitedly hoping the best for all of you TTC-ers! I was to start in October but now it's November. Hopefully you will have conceived by then!!!

hi everyone!

I am also in my second cycle of trying! My darn cycles are pretty long too so I would definitely love to have folks to chat with while I wait for O to even happen! I am on CD 6 i believe and probably have till cd 20 until O.

I am going to try out the clear blue advanced opk this month, although ive heard mixed reviews on it, but ill let you know how it goes! I also have cheapies so will use those as a secondary source

Fx for everyone!

Sounds great, hopefully this cycle will be THE cycle for you!

Hermajesty, I'm on CD 14 and usually O between CD23-27 so we are similar in our cycles.

FX for us!

yay! are you using OPKs or anything this cycle? I see you chart..I don't sleep well all the time so I think temping wouldn't work out well for me.

No OPKs for me. They never seem to go positive. I rarely get a faint second line but never anything close to a positive. So I've stopped wasting my time with them.

I'm tracking CM and temping. We usually end up BDing nearly every second day and every day around the time of O.

You do need to have a good night sleep before you temp, so that can definitely make it difficult. Do you track CM?

We are seeing a fertility specialist tomorrow.

Sarah- Yeah i dont think ill track CM yet, I am trying to not end up obsessing (its very much so in my nature) so trying to keep stress levels low and use the opks. I have managed to get positive opks but sometimes they are positive for days so they still do confuse me as well.

I think the every other day approach is ideal! I think I am going to do that instead of what i did last cycle which was almost every day because i kept thinking i was about to get a positive opk but didn't for another week or so haha

How was the appt? Hope it went well!

So big change of plan.

Doctor prescribed Clomid and said I'm not ovulating. He also prescribed Provera which you take for 10 days, then stop and AF starts. Then you take Clomid on CD 3-7.

So AF should be here in 10 days.

In terms of tracking your cycle, the fertility specialist said don't track and just do lots of BDing. But I know that's really hard. He said I shouldn't temp and DH thought that was wonderful. So I probably won't get away with temping anymore. I'll probably still check CM, but Clomid can make CM dry up. DH is excited at the possibility of having multiples with Clomid haha.

I never trust OPKs, they can be positive even if you haven't O'd. Just do what's right for you and BD 3-4 times a week (at least).

Sarah how did the doc know if you were ovulating? And we're there signs that suggested to you that u may not have been ovulating?

Overall, it looks as if you have a pretty clear plan as to how you will go about it :) hopefully it will all go your way on that first attempt on the new plan!!!

The doctor used 2 signs.

The first was a blood test they usually do on CD21 to check the level of progesterone. If it is high, you've ovulated. The tricky part is that some women have longer cycles and haven't ovulated by CD21. I've done the blood test later in my cycle and it's still been low. This is one of the first blood tests they do when looking for fertility related issues.

The second way was by looking at my ovaries on a transvaginal ultrasound. They could see lots of little follicles. Basically, when you ovulate, a dominant follicle comes to the top, ready to release as an egg. When this happens in 'healthy' people the lots of little follicles die off as the one big egg (or two if it's twins) gets ready to ovulate. If you don't have the dominant follicle and you're not ovulating, all the little follicles hang around. I had large ovaries filled with these tiny follicles.

We are also TTC in our second cycle.. AF was supposed to come yesterday, but still hasn't showed up yet! FXd! Baby Dust to all! Hang in there girls!!

Oh Sarah, must have been quite a shock to hear this. But having said that, you finally know now what is going on and thankfully you could get this second plan up and running! Is it related to PCOS? And when will you be likely to O now that you have the plan?

Thanks Jo. I did know I had PCOS, so that didn't come as a shock. But I had thought I was ovulating, so that did. The not ovulating is a clear sign of PCOS. I should finish Provera on the 10th September. Then AF should start on the 11th. First Clomid tablet on the 13th September (CD3-7) and the doctor said to BD frequently from CD 11-18

Momma, test!!
