2nd degree tear + sex (tmi warning)

Sorry about the TMI thread in advance!

I've got to be honest, I thought it would take some good time before I started to want sex after having my baby, but I was wrong. I'm not even two weeks post partum and my sex drive is returning quickly, me and my partner find each other more attractive than ever and there is this whole new spark between us... maybe because we couldn't do it much at the end of pregnancy, maybe because my body has changed and my partner finds it so exciting, not sure, but it is as though our sensual relationship has started fresh after the birth
Have others felt like this?
I had a 2nd degree tear and had it stitched, starting to not feel sore unless I really over do it.
Obviously we haven't had sex yet or even close but I'm impatient!
Anyone who had a 2nd degree tear (or similar) who can tell me when you were able to have sex again and how long it took to feel normal/comfortable?

I had a second degree tear but bleed for 7 weeks so didn't have sex til then. It was a little tender but ok. Lots of lube and go slow.

We waited 7 weeks... I had and still have no desire for it. I had a tear but it was healed and was mostly just uncomfortable. We've only had sex the one time so far. :\

Erm... Sorry to report that we had sex this week (4 months pp) and it still hurt, it felt sort of bruised. I'm guessing that relaxation and practice will help - I was pretty scared so was probably quite tense!

I had 2nd degree tears both times and dtd 4 weeks pp . It was sore but ok ! Go with what you feel, USE CONTRACEPTION !!

My LO is almost 9 months old and we are TTC for #2. I'm sorry to report that sex doesn't feel as good as it used to. I had a 2nd degree tear, waited a long time to have sex after giving birth (I think 2 months), and it's still not comfortable. But everyone's experience is different.

I had a 3rd degree tear and my consultant advised that I avoid sex until my 6 week pp appointment to make sure everything was ok. There was no way I would have wanted sex before this anyway.
I think we left it about 8 weeks and it was still sore.

I had a 2nd degree tear, internal tears and grazing. We had sex at 4 weeks PP and it was fine. However almost 3 years on it really hurts in certain positions it feels like I'm tearing all over again I wonder if I was stitched too tight.

Wow i am jealous...it has been almost 7 months pp and sex is the last thing in my list of things i feel like doing! I had a second degree tear too and we had sex mainly because of my husband who was getting impatient at 8 weeks pp and it was horrible...for me even now it is still painful and i only feel comfortable in the missionary position....hopefully you will be fine.

With episiotomy with my 1st, it took MONTHS before it felt okay DTD. We waited the 6 weeks recommended. But every time we DTD after that for several months, it was very painful for me for the first few minutes, like a sharp stabbing pain. It eventually got better and went away.

Didn't have any issues at all after DS2, but no episiotomy with him or tearing.

I didn't tear or have any grazes and I waited until 6 weeks pp and it still hurt. But everyone is different. If you feel up to it and you're not sore then do it if not id give it a few more weeks. Congrats on LO x

I had a 2nd degree tear with DS2, and I felt healed and ready within 2 weeks postpartum. However, I waited until after my 6 week followup before letting DH in me. That didn't stop us from playing otherwise in the time leading up until then.

Thank you for the replies everyone! It's good to hear about a range of experiences, it's nice to know that for some it was okay from quite early but also good to hear about it taking longer so I don't set my expectations too high (although I'm sorry for the ladies who have found it very difficult :/ )

I definitely think I will wait until the 6 week doctor check before actual penetration, if I can manage to wait! But we'll do other things before then I assume, although still too sore to dare try at the moment.

I know Lorenare, I don't get it! I really wasn't expecting to be interested at all.. but I can't wait to get back to our great sex life.

As it is our first baby we're not quite sure how we'll work it with her, like where we'll put her down.. it's not something I have ever heard anyone talk about, I suppose it's a very private thing. Would anyone be willing to share whether they keep baby in the room with them while they are still very little?

I had a second degree tear with my second. I was sore til 4-5 weeks. Waited til 8 weeks and it was painful. Stayed sore until about 6 months...got better but still hurt. Now at a year I'd never know. It's fine.
As for sex around baby I personally see no issue with them in the room asleep. They have no idea so won't be scared for life lol

We used to have sex in the same room as my baby but she was always asleep in her Moses basket! All of my friends did the same as well. Now she is six months she's obviously in her own room so sex life has resumed as normal! I think it's personal choice though you may feel better going in another bedroom or another room in the house! X

Ive had a C section and have ststarted to feel randy even though my abdomen isnt fully healed and probably wont be until 6weeks+ post partum. The thought of tackling my man excites me!

We did intimate things at 5 weeks but we didn't have sex. Apparently I am much tighter than I was before it hurt a little to do said intamite thing for a few seconds to start with but was fine after.
