2ND SWEEP 2moro what are the chance of this one working

Hey

Well i had my first sweep last Monday, and apart from loosing alot of jelly plug and show, it deff didnt put me into labour!

So 2moro i have my second sweep, should i expect the same again, feeling abit doubtful if its going to work or not!

Hi it worked for me!

I didn't get offered my first til 1 wk overdue, and had to nag for the 2nd which they did the morning before l was due to be induced. I didn't think it had worked until l went to get into bed that night and suddenly the worst contractions ever just came from nowhere! Went straight to hosp and my little girl was born the next morning, exactly 2 wks late.

My situation was a little different tho as my waters partially went at 38wks, and was in slow labour from then put just not progressing properly. Contractions would get as close as 6mins apart then just stop for a day or so!

Think it was the 2nd sweep that did it in the end so am hoping to have my first one earlier this time if needed.

I didnt know they would let you go on if your waters broke, to be 38 weeks aswell you think they would just start you off!

It deff sounds like the second sweep gave you the final push!

I had a bit of a nightmare really. Went into hosp to be checked as it wasn't a gush of waters they just kept trickling, got monitored and showed l was contracting and already at 4cm. I just thought it was bh as more uncomfortable than anything. Got told if l hadn't progressed further that evening they'd induce me, but with about an hour to go they said as there was still enough waters around babys head and we were both coping ok, that i'd be sent home instead.

Kept slowly progressing thru the weeks, they said it was literally the little waters left keeping her in but my hosp policy is to not pop them unless baby is in distress which thankfully she wasn't.

I definitely think it was the 2nd sweep that did it, the mw said she was incredibly thorough doing it as she was amazed l hadn't delivered her yet!

Obviously l hope that doesn't happen again, l think l will literally beg for a sweep if it does!

Dh and I also went for a really long walk straight after the sweep to try and get things going, so that might be worth a try for you

I've heard sweeps work best after 41 weeks - my midwife won't do any at all before that point.

A friend of mine is 12 days overdue and has had 3 sweeps and none have worked!

I think they will only work if your body is ready

Had my 2nd sweep today, had one last weds, had loads of pains but nothing....not hopefull for this one, guess only time will tell...hope yours is successfull x

I'm getting my sweep on Friday, but I'm not holding my breath as I think my bean is far to comfy, and is in for the long haul! Lol I think she will have to be forced out!

hia hun ive had my first sweep this morning at about 12.30pm so keeping my fingers crossed that its going to work although not hopeful i was 2-3cm and baby is very low but not very effaced dr said :s ? ... good luck with your 2nd sweep x
