This is a question primarily for those who've used a birthing ball in labour before. I had a very long drawn-out and painful first stage of labour with my first and she didn't engage until I was in established labour. I am now nearly 38 weeks with my second and am considering getting a birthing ball in the hope it will help get the baby engaged and in a good position in these final weeks and also that it will be useful to sit/ rock on during contractions. I wasn't going to bother initially as I know birthing balls are provided at the hospital but, having thought further about it, due to the fact that we are struggling to find anyone to look after our LO (20 months), I am really hoping to be able to stay at home for as long as possible before transferring to hospital. So my question is really- do you think it is worthwhile buying a ball now or have I really left it too late to be of any use?
