Okay so I'm at a total loss. My little girl who is 3 months screams bloody murder at her bedtime bottle every night. She takes about 3oz than starts to scream. So I burp her and try again but she doesn't want it and is screaming. So I just figured she was full and was overtired so I put her in bed after alittle rock to calm.only to have her not fall asleep. Every night I have to get her out of bed cause she is still hungry. So ladies tell me....why is she screaming and refusing her bottle even when she is hungry?? She has a bedtime routine bath, book, zipped in sleep sack, bottle, bed. I moved her bedtime earlier but it didn't help. I'm confused and hate to see her get so worked up. Help??

Is your LO bf at all? DS is mostly bf but has had a bottle of formula every night since about 10 weeks. He used to scream too, till we figured out he didn't like the flow on the teat. We use MAM teats and he only likes the teats that say 1 on them.

Now sometimes he screams if he doesn't like the temperature of his bottle.

No she is formula fed. I thought about this too but we always use the same nipples for all her feeds. She is still using the slow flow ones as she doesnt like the fast flow. As for tempurate of the bottles Ive tried both making them warmer or cooler and she still screams at every bedtime bottle. I was also thinking maybe its cause she doesnt want to go to bed?? as she just wants to be with us? Im just at a loss. cause these last few weeks she has also started to "make strange" with everyone except mommy and daddy when we go out and have people over but will be just find if we leave her with my parents or siblings to be babysat ? are these somehow connected??

My baby is 15 weeks and I had the same problem so now I give her half a bottle (4oz) before her bath and the rest after the bath an hour or so later and it seems to work.

Could she be in pain maybe with colic after she's been lay down ? My baby was like this everynight until we started using infacol on her.. and tilting her bed/moses basket up.

the thought of pain or colic crossed my mind. So I think ill be talking to my Dr about it to see what he thinks. Im just at a loss cause nothing I do helps her and I hate to hear her cry like that. :(

We sometimes have this and we decided that it was because he didn't like being in a dark room until he was sleepy. He would do the same, start the bottle really well then start screaming etc so we did the normal bedtime routine but I started the bed time feed downstairs in a quiet room then move him to his own room half way through the bottle. It seems to work for us - hope that's a help xx xx

My 3mth old is the same, figured hes probably still a bit windy. usually i'll walk around the house and stand at back door just outside a little, usually stops him crying. or, settle him with a dummy on me or his dad..when hes stopped crying for a bit, i'll remove the dummy and pop the bottle in, that usually works.
Another thing that ive recently noticed - especially if ive made a bottle fresh, doesnt happen so much with bottles made in advance - is that the teat can get blocked! not sure how as there doesnt look as if theres anything blocking it, but i tried sucking on it once when i was seeing what the temperature was after a bout of crying (harry doesnt like bottles that arent warm enough lol) and even i couldnt suck the milk out at first! once it came through he was alright then. i felt ever so guilty for inadvertently teasing him with a bottle he couldnt get anything from! thars the first thing i check now if he starts to cry in a feed.
as for making strange with others, my dd was like that with people she didnt see regularly. i think sometimes just not knowing who people were was the only problem - she's 6 now, and although shes quite shy around new people, she stopped crying soon enough once she could be shy in a non baby way, if you get me?! lol.
im sure it will settle down soon :)

Hmmm, maybe a wonder week?

Sometimes babies noses are a bit stuffy at night. Try feeding her with her head more elevated than normal with the bedtime bottle.

My 4month does the same n she was always v colicky, im wondering if its laying her straight down after too that makes her cry. im also going to try ready made formjla just at bedtime as its meant to b easier to digest! X

To me it sounds like the routine is quite a long one with the book etc too and she may be a bIt overstimulated. I'd try and cut it down to a shorter routine, you can always add stuff in later. I don't bath as Part of routine as my boys are better with short bedtimes. My 5month old gets snuggle, naked kickabout, face hands and bum wash, short hair dryer blast (he loves it), PJs & slleep bag, milk, bed - takes 5min maxfrom finishing 1st snuggles downstairs to drowsy feeding.
