 2 weeks ago when I had my gynae appointment the consultant said that he would refer us (me and DH) to the Woking Nuffield Fertility centre for IUI. I was really pleased - I've only got a couple of months of clomid left, and was pretty worried as to what would happen after that, so was pleased to have a next step lined up.

I chased the referral and have just been told that he got it wrong and because we're not in Surrey (we're in Hampshire) we're not eligible because I'm not over 30.

I'm so disappointed. Meanwhile the world and his wife are announcing they're expecting.

The postcode lottery is ridiculous :nope:

So sorry you have been let down like this x

:flower:It's so frustrating isn't it, all this business. And very tiring!

The secretary said she'd speak to the consultant next week, alert him to his mistake and see where he wants to take it. Not sure what our options are though - I've had my maximum months of clomid...

Thank you for replying.

How old are you? Do you have long to wait to fall into the age band?

Im in Cambridgeshire and my gp seems pretty on the ball and everything has been done very quickly so far,it's certainly frustrating though.

What is the maximum amount of Clomid? I think thats my next step if my progesterone comes back low.

I'm 27 (28 in July), so we have a couple of years before we'd be eligible. We're likely to be moving to the States for 18 months in August (though it's not confirmed yet) so I'm not sure we'd have had treatment in time anyway, but I liked knowing that that would be the plan if our States move falls through.

I think generally they put you on clomid for 6 months, and a year is the maximum, then you have to have a break. I'm currently on my 6th cycle with clomid (cd5) and have one more month after this at double dose (100mg). I've had a break for 2 months off clomid in the middle though, after my 2nd MC. For those 2 months I ovulated without it, so that was a relief. Hoping I'll therefore have at least 2 months after clomid where I'll still ovulate, but after that what happens is a mystery!

Just losing hope...after 1st mc, when we got pregnant again 4 months later, although it ended in MC again I thought that our problems can't be too bad if we've conceived twice. But now nothing since November, even though I've ovulated each month.

Maybe your doc will try you on clomid - it works wonders for many.

The postcode lottery sucks! Sorry to hear you've been let down with the wrong information. I live in Hertfordshire and they won't give us IUI at all.
