Ladies anyone any advise my 3 wk old is feeding every 2-2.5 hrs and taking 4-5 fl oz at a time. This seems too much, from abit of online reading it says that babies can't take too much milk cause they will throw up what they don't need, Rory is never sick. It just seems like he is feeding ALOT!
He was 9lbs 14 when born and has put weight on at every weigh in since and as of last Monday he was 11lb 7.
I spoke to MW and she just said he is a big baby and needs feeding.
Anyone else any experience of this and did the feeds slow down soon, I know there is a 3 wk growth spurt but he just seems to be eating so much. Apart form that he is a very happy and content.

dont worry about it hun.. if hes hungry just let him take it. Put an extra ounce in his bottle too and see if he takes it. My sisters last 2 babies were big babies (10lb 6oz and 10lb ) and at 3 weeks were taking about 7oz every 2 hours. Bigger babies need more milk.. if he's not throwing it up then hes needing it all :)

Also if your using a milk that has a stage 2 hungry baby.. try that as thats what my sister did and it allowed her to leave 3-3.5 hours between feeds as it filled them up better xxx

My baby was 6lbs15oz when born and right now at 3 weeks he is a little more then 8lbs and he eats every 2 hrs sometimes every 1.5 hrs. I don't know how much he consumes because I'm breastfeeding, but it does seem like he eats all the time. Its annoying to me, but I heard babies go through grow spurs and like to eat often. Although formula fed babies should eat every 3-4 hrs I believe. Then again, just follow your baby's cues =)

Thanks ladies might try an extra Oz in his bottle and see how we get on x

Normal for age. Dw. Some times Noel was feeding every 1.5 hours. Their dummies aren't that big so the feed more often when they want more to begin with.

ds was born 9.2, he ate alot too and more often than dd does...but shes 3wks old now, eats every 3-4 hrs, and 4 oz at a time, even a 5oz feed today.

She was also born 7.11 and weighed 8 1/2 already at her checkup last wk. quite alot for her smaller size. If they/re hungry, let em eat! as long as it's not being spitup, their tummies want it!

I agree with your MW. he was a big baby at birth, so he's going to eat more than typical. My lo wanted to eat every two hours for a few days around a month old and it must have been due to a growth spurt because she needed the next size up in clothes shortly after that lol. Babies self regulate VERY well, you can't really overfeed even with formula. If he was spitting up after feedings I'd say he just needed a pacifier and less formula, but if it's all staying put lol, it'f the right amount for him :)
