my son is 3lbs 6 oz at 31 weeks 1 day. i was shocked and thought that was big. i am so scared of labor now with just 58 days til my due date. my daughter was only 6lbs and 10 oz at birth and she created a tear that needed five stitches. so nervous
Just remember that it is definitely not all about size (how smoothly labour and delivery goes, I mean..) and that has just been proved by mother of two's comment- ladies can have very large babies, birthed without a graze, or sometimes smaller babies and still tear fairly badly..(ouch mother of two ) it doesn't follow that big baby= big tear, or any tear. Have a look at some info on birthing positions, as this can definitely help..and familiarise yourself with the ones that open the pelvis best and create the most space for baby, it's not always easy in labour to remember or do these things (I had to be literally dragged up just to go and pee at one point...!) but it can really be useful. Also the all important moment of pushing..at this point lots of women have a bit of a lull in contractions, and can focus really well on advice from midwife/birth partner/doula/themself and do the whole panting thing to ease baby out slowly...however, as I posted on another similar topic, focusing massively on tearing is very frightening and i'd attempt to avoid it. If it happens, and noone can pretend it's an impossibility, then you may not actually feel it, and it will be taken care of v.quickly, and the area is one designed to heal extremely quickly!
Mine weighs 4lbs approx at 30w5d. I was told not to worry and that he was still within normal limits for growth at this stage. I think what its important to remember is that a small baby doesn't automatically equal an easy birth. My best friend had a baby weighing a ginormous 10lbs 14oz NATURALLY with not one stitch required. It will all seem like everything is going by really quick now x
its fine hun, and these things are really inaccurate anyway, its more about seeing of they keep up with that line and arnt losing than that being an accurate weight, if that makes sense?
