35 weeks onwards any stretch marks in sight yet???

I've been using bio oil since the first trimester and so far (fingers crossed) my skin is clear. I'm still expecting them to appear in the next 3 weeks if I go overdue so I'm religiously oiling up twice a day still.

Even if I do get them, I'm still a bio oil convert as I come from bad skin genetics - my mum's stomach is a mess, it literally looks scarred, and even my dad has stretch marks on his biceps! I also got bad stretchmarks on my boobs during puberty. So even though people say that it's genetic and creams/oils do chuff all, I really believe differently now as looking after myself has, so far, had great results (please don't let me have just jinxed myself!!)

Mine are on my lower stomach, I have quite a lot :( I have previous extra padding and have been quite religious with moisturising...just unlucky I guess :( xxx

i had a bit of padding on my tum before hand so it may have helped, my skin still feels a bit stretchy but not much room left now i dont think lol x

I was very slim, ultra-flat tummy before my first pregnancy - I never got any stretchmarks.

This time, I have been a bit lazy, only slap on some cream once a week or so, and none yet at 32wks - just assuming I am not going to get them.

My mum never got them with us 3 children.

I did have quite a small bump first time and this time too so that could make the difference??:flower:

yeah my mum diddnt really get any either im just wondering if they come after instead when baby is here lol x

i've got them on my boobs but none on the bump yet at 36 weeks :D i'm not bothering with the special creams & oils either if i get them i get them xx

yeah thats what i think to, i know loads of people that have used creams and oils and its not made any difference and people that have used them and it has, so a lot of mixed opinions out there but if i get em i get em lol x

Ive got loads from my first pregnancy, no new ones yet, though 2 of them at the top of my bump have gone red on the ends, it looks like 2 little red eyes 'cos they are in matching places each side if that makes sense lol.

xx

i think you should upload a pic of it to see? if you want to of course :flower:

Yes it is usually hereditary - how "stretchy" your skin is, the type of skin you have, how you carry, how big you get, etc etc...

I didn't get any with my son, but I didn't get very big with him either! I actually didn't use any creams or anything because I assumed I would get tons (had lots from puberty) but I lucked out. My tummy skin is super stretchy though. I'm itchy this time like I was before and haven't gotten any yet. We'll see!
They fade to almost nothing after time anyway so I'm not overly worried about it...

Also you can get them after LO is born! If your tummy shrinks quickly, that change can also cause them. I know 4-5 girls that didn't have them until the weeks after LO!
Just when you think you're safe lol! :haha:

I thought I was doing ok but I started getting them around 35 weeks :-/

I have none at all on my tummy - which I'm putting down to using Bio Oil in the morning, and Neal's Yard Mother's Balm (almost finish my second mammoth jar now) in the evening. The bits I've missed - back and bum - have a few though :( Thought I was doing great til I was bouncing on my ball in my vest and joggies the other night and oh pipes up "See those lines? Is that what stretch marks are?" Could have knocked him out.

As for the hereditary factor - mum has none, both my sisters have bad ones.

Keeping up the lathering anyway! Fingers crossed...

I will be 37 weeks on Monday and my belly has stretch marks. Kind of weird because with my 1st pregnancy I gained more weight and didnt get any. But with this pregnancy, LO is very small (has IUGR) and I have gained less weight but have tons of marks. Oh well, guess it comes with the territory. *sigh*

I'm 35 weeks and don't have them, though my skin does sometimes itch and it looks kind of blue-ish at times. I have been religiously slathering my belly in Palmer's stretch mark cream and Vitamin E oil. My mom swears that it what kept her from getting them, even though she gained 60 pounds with me! (I've only gained about 25). I think putting on weight gradually helps as well.

I don't have any yet.. some people get them after baby is born though so I'm preparing myself for that possibility :flower:
