I was sleeping in on this day because I was 38 weeks pregnant and I wasnt working any longer. I wasn't due to do anything today so I allowed myself to sleep in. I heard my phone ring at 843am, I looked at the phone and it was the doctors. At the time I did not want to talk to the doctors I just wanted to sleep and knew they would leave a message for me which I would be able to listen to when I woke up. After about ten minutes of silence my phone rang and it was a special ring for my husband. When I answered he seemed very happy. This was the conversation:
DH:Hey babe are you awake?
Me: Not really just laying in bed now, whats up?
DH: Well I have good news!!
Me: Oh yeah did you get a promotion or a raise?!
DH: Yeah I wish, but no the doctors office just called me and the nurse said that they found protein in your urine and they want you to come in as soon as possible to be induced.
Me: (I sat up quickly) Really? Well are we waiting for you to get off work or do you need me to have my mom come and get me and we can just meet at the hospital?
(Mind you we lived an hour away from DH work)
DH: NOOO, I'm on my way now they need you ASAP, I will be there in 15 mins.
ME: OK ill be ready.....![Happy Dance :happydance: :happydance:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/happydance2.gif)
This was such an exciting time, I didnt know what to do after I got off the phone. Should I call my family and tell them or should I put it on Facebook that I was getting induced or what should I do. So I decided to call the doctors office and she what they needed and where to go. The nurse was so pleasant and I was so excited to hear her tell me that I was going to have my baby in the next 12-24 hours!!!! After getting off the phone with her I decided to call my mother and aunt and best friend who all needed to be there with me during labor. I posted on facebook that I was going to have a baby and I was nervous but so excited to finally get to see my LO.
Once my DH got to the house he took a shower(fastest one I have ever seen him take) and we were headed out the door. The drive was about an hour and a half to get from our house to the hospital. We had driven this drive for a few months due to insurance change
but this seemed like it was going to be the longest trip of my life.
We finally got to the hospital and there we met my mother, aunt(who is only 5 years older than me) and my best friend. We got settled into the room, got my gown on and got comfy. The doctor came in about a half hour after we got there to get the petocin put in. She got my vital signs and drew some blood. As she was checking me she asked me what my plan was. I told her that I really didnt have much of a plan but the things that I really wanted to do was be able to walk through the pain, possibly use the tube, and bounce on the ball. I told her that I knew I was going to most likely have the epidural but I wanted to feel some pain for a little while. She agreed and told me that I was 70% Effaced and 1 Centimeter dilated so she said she would come in after about an hour and check me out to see if anything had changed.
About two hours had passed with me laying on my back and wanting to get up when the doc came back in to check me. I was starting to have contractions but i hadn't changed. She checked my BP and said it was normal. But after about 20 mins after she had left she had a nurse come in and tell me about magnesium, the nurse said that my bp was too high and that they needed to start it now. I told her no. I didn't want the magnesium because the doc said my bp was normal.
They wouldn't listen they had the doc come back in and said that i needed the magnesium and so they gave it to me. I was on it for 10 hours and in those 10 hrs my bp went from 119/80 to 210/158. The pain was starting to get bad even though I wasnt really getting anywhere with centimeters and all. They said that I could get the epidural and if i wanted it then I needed to get it now. So I did and when they put it in I felt it all, but that wasnt the last of the pain, because it didnt work, They had to go back in and give me another one about an hour and a half later.
I hit about 15 hours and they came in to check me for the 3rd time and I was at a 3centimeter and 80% effaced. They said that they needed to give me more pitocin for the contractions to get stronger and faster. At this point they were already stronger and faster they were 3 mins apart. They broke my water and said that it would help speed things along.
At about 25 hours they came in and look at me and said that I was at 3 still but I was about 90% effaced. They checked my BP and it was 197/102, they wanted everyone in the room to either be quiet or leave. They said that the people that were in the room with me were too loud and they were all making my BP go up. (which was not the case at all, everyone in the room were either crocheting, reading, sleeping, eating, or massaging me) At this point I was done. I just wanted this kid out of me because I had already been in labor for a whole day.
28 hours into labor the doctor came in and checked how far along I was he said that it was looking good I had gone from a 3 to a 4 and still 90% effaced. This was disappointing, I only went up 1 centimeter. I was sooo done at this point I was starting to talk to my DH about getting a c-section because I just didnt want to do it any more and so he asked the nurse and she said that they can not just allow us to get a c-section because we want to have it, they said that it has to be medically necessary to do so.
At about 32 hours into my labor one of the first doctors that was on my case was back for another shift. He said before he left the last time that he did not want to see me pregnant the next time he came in and so when he saw my name he wanted to be my doc again so that he could get this baby out and be productive. When he walked in the room I was re-leaved to see him. He was such a sweet guy, he walked him said your still pregnant huh, well how about we do something about that and first see where we are and then see what we can go and maybe hopefully we can have a baby before I go home again tonight. So he checked me and said that I was at a 4 and 90%, I was crushed. I didnt move a bit. I didn't know what to think. He had asked if I wanted to go through with this naturally or if we just wanted to get it done by c-section. (we were puzzled.) We asked if we could have a moment just my DH and I so we could figure this out. Everyone left the room and between contractions we decided we needed to just go through with it and get LO out. I said that I wanted to just wait another 3 hours and see if I could change anything. So my DH got the doc and told him that I wanted to wait another 3 hrs and see if it would change. If not then they would need to book the OR and get the baby out.![Cry  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/cry.gif)
35 hours in labor they came in checked me and I was still at a 4 but now a 50% so they said that they needed to get me in since they had already broke my water. So they booked the OR and mine should have been easy because since I already at the epidural I just needed to get the meds put in through my IV and that was all. Well they got me back and put the meds in and they said they had to take me back into the room because they had an ER C-Section and this was the only OR open. So they wheeled me back to the room and told me that it would take about an hour and that we should get some sleep while we waited.
So everyone waited in the waiting room and DH and I fell asleep while we waited. After about an hour and a half we got to go back into the OR got the meds again(because they started to wear off) and they got my LO out. He was born November 30th 2011 at 10:08pm at 7lbs 12oz 20in![Baby :baby: :baby:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/baby.gif)
