37+5, 3 cm dilated, 80% effaced, not feeling contractions

Has anyone been in this situation? Last week I was 1 cm dilated at my appointment. This week I have progressed to 3 cm and 80% effaced. I get a lot of Braxton hicks, but nothing painful and no true contractions that I can time or that stop me in my tracks. Am I likely to go into labor soon? Could I walk around like this for weeks?

I had DS1 at 38+5 and DS2 at 38+2, but with both of them I never went past 1 cm in the office and was always about 3-4 cm by the time I got to the hospital. I was shocked to be 3 cm at my appointment.

Yep both of my girls I was 4cm and 85% effaced I believe (I can't remember the exact effacement with both but I know I was in the 80s) at my last appointments. I had no contractions with either until I actually went into labor. With my eldest I had her the next day with my second I had her a day and a half later with a really fast labor.

Woohoo! 3cm is an awesome way to start.
With DS i was 3cm and 90% effaced at my 39 week check and doc said that if i made it through the weekend he would be surprised. This was friday afternoon. I went into labor sunday evening and i had him monday very early am. I would get ready you could go anytime now.

Thanks ladies! Still no signs of labor that I can tell. I'm having Braxton hicks but nothing regular or painful, so we'll see!

I'm afraid it's entirely possible to go on for a while longer with the cervix open and thinning out, the more babies you have the more just the weight of the pregnancy causes things to open and stretch a bit. However the good news is when baby is ready to come you'll be starting from a great place and hopefully it will be nice and quick for you!
I'd definitely make sure you're ready hehe x
