Hey

I had a growth scan on Friday due to having measured 3 weeks ahead at all MW apts.... and it being a third bigger at 20 week scan. As above it's big and predicted 9.5lbs if I make it to 40 weeks.

The consultant has told me to do everything I can to encourage labour. So I'm booked in for 3 accupuncture sessions, having a gestational diabetes test on Thursday, eating half a pineapple a day and having 3 cups of raspberry leaf a day.

The baby is 'ready' to come now (in the words of the consultant) and need advice re the weights above - if I get to 40 weeks too. Also I'll try anything to get this moving as I'd quite like to save my privates the stress of giving birth to a 9.5lb baby!

If anyone has had a similar experience please let me know!
Help!

Try to relax too! I was told over 9lbs with my first after growth scans etc - he was 7lb 3oz and pretty much on time x x

I'm quite nervous about the size of my baby, last week at 39, the midwife said she may have to send me for a growth scan because she was a bit worried for the size of it.. i'm measuring at 40.5cm.. :( Eep I hope mine's not going to be too too huge.. I want natural!

Weight estimates really are vague estimates. Can be up to a pound out!
I wouldn't rush labour though, how big a baby to a point has very little to do with how mature the lungs are!

Try not to worry too much - scan estimates are notoriously inaccurate, and there are so many cases of women being told they are having big babies, only to pop out a week 6-7lber xxx

Sorry to say hun but baby wont come no matter what you try until baby is ready, its a hormone released that starts labour. My LO was 10lbs 4.5oz and he was my easiest labour of my three, so the size of baby does not really indicate what type of labour you will have or what damage to your bits there will be, there is a lot of other things that contribute too. No harm in trying gentle things really like staying active etc.......although I did this too and LO was still 9 days overdue! and that was with midwife & consultant saying baby was ''ready'' at 38 weeks. Not trying to be negative, just trying to give advise from my experiances :D

ETA - your body generally grows a baby that your body can birth. Our bodys really are amazing :)

With my first all I heard was o your having a big baby witch scared the hell out of me but I had him 4 days early and he was 7pound 0.5onz don't always go with what they say its could be u have loads of water like I did xx

Im in the same boat been told my baby will b atleast 10lb by due date! Im booked in for an induction a few days b4 my due date bcos of his size, I have borderline GD controlled by diet x

I had growth scans throughout my pregnancy with DD and was told she was on target to be a 9.5-10lber at 40 weeks. Imagine our shock when she popped out a tiny 5.5lbs at 38+2  the growth scans and fundal meausements were totally off for me, and I know a few others that have had the same happen. Of course, this isn't always the case, but just thought I'd share :)

My baby was meant to be 10lb at 40 weeks. He was 8lb5 at 41 weeks and 2 days. Plus giving birth was easier with my bigger baby. Relax :-)

i was told with my second to expect at least 9.5lb baby, she popped out weighing 7 14, im already measuring 2 weeks ahead, i had a scan last week and this weighs 2lb already, try not to stress to much hun, baby will come when ready xx

I had a scan at 37+2 with my son and was told he already weighed 8lb 7oz and they booked me in for another scan at 38+2 with the thought of possibly inducing. Well I went into labour naturally at 38+1 and he weighed 7lb 3oz so they were completely wrong. Try not to worry, the scans at this stage in my experience aren't accurate xx

When i was pregnant with my first baby Sophie, i measured 2 weeks ahead from 24 weeks, had a growth scan at 35 weeks and they estimated her to be just under 6 pounds and said she'd be between 9-10pounds at birth. She was born on her due date weighing 9lb 3 and i had a easy just under 6hr labour (she did get stuck and had shoulder dystocia) but i only had a labia graze which had 1 stitch in and a perineum tear which didn't need stitches. x
