I just noticed a sudden and quite painful twinge in my bump, which is lingering a bit. Now there's a small patch on the top in the middle (half way between belly button and boob) that is painful and tender to touch. It's just a small area - not even the size of my palm - but I have no idea what it could be or whether to worry?

I have a similar spot just above my bellybutton that has been hurting on and off since about 27 weeks. It feels like a strained muscle/bruise when I have a day where I over do it (the first time it started hurting was on a hike in Hawaii). I find the only way to relieve it is to take a load off on the sofa - sometimes easier said than done when you have two other little ones to take care of!

I wouldn't worry about it too much without other symptoms...sounds like your poor bump is just stretched to its limit.

I'm certainly no doctor, but if no one knows what it is I would recommend calling the doctor. It could be the baby laying a weird way, maybe he kicked a rib and its leaving an after affect? Does the baby tend to kick there?

~Random thought~ I haven't been able to feel my ribs for months because of the bump. So I was pressing around under my right boob and it HURT so bad when I touched it. It was so sore from the baby moving around in that area. First and last time I ever tried to touch my ribs again! :dohh:

I get a burning, stinging pain where my skin is so sore exactly where you are uncomfortable. It's the pulling as the baby has dropped and putting pressure on my skin. Mention it to your mw just in case its muscular and they can advise you. I've just been putting lots of oil on my skin to make it better.

I have a similar spot in around the same area as you, but slightly to the left. I am having a few issues with bleeding, and pain around my old c-section scar.

I brought up this patch with my consultant. It feels like a bruise. Hurts to touch, and pulls a bit when I stretch it or overdo it. He said it's absolutely nothing to worry about! It's around the area babies bum is. Her movements and pressure from her bum is just "bruising me from the inside out", although he said that with a grin and a chuckle.
I'd bring it up with the midwife next time you see her. She'll be able to ease your mind :)

I've had the exact same thing all week! My gp checked it out and said it's nothing to worry about and probably caused by stretching or where baby is. It is sooo painful! I find it comes on more at the end of the day, I've now also stopped bending forward and reaching for things as this seems to make it worse

I've been getting this for a few weeks now, always in the same spot- top right of my bump where I think baby's feet are. Whenever baby pushes on the area or if i prod about around there its very very tender! Think its just a muscular stretching feeling. Not pleasant though xx

I have this just next to my belly button where babys head is (he is a flexed breech)
Ive started to worry it might be a hernia,as i had some damage in that area from early pregnancy morning sickness,a possible tare. The pain is awful when getting out of bed or a sitting position, and esp when im sick or cough or sneeze
