It has been a while since I have been on this forum. I have two beautiful girls who were born at 28 weeks due to PE (and they were born on the same day Dec 16: 2003 and 2010). Since approaching 40, I have been in baby fever and my husband and I have now decided to have another baby. It is exciting but I feel as if my chances are slim. I usually have very regular periods (I have not been on bc for 3 yrs now) and lately it has been longer cycles and more cramping/tiredness with each cycle. I think I am perimenopausal (have all the signs with the exception of one). Being that said, I do want to still try for a third baby. Any feedback you can provide would be helpful. I know this is going to be a journey, but we are willing to take it. I also want to know about clomid and if it was helpful with women who maybe perimenopausal. As far as I will go with fertility treatments is IUI, but that would be a last ditch effort. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Happy babymaking!

Hiya,

I've just turned 38 and am starting to think of trying for another baby. We have 3 boys all about to turn 8, 5 and 3 in the next month. It's funny because for ages I was certain that I didn't want another, 3 is busy - def different to having two (for me!) and was happy that life seemed to be moving on. But, now I'm gripped by baby fever! I don't know what to make of it.... Is this just me saying good bye to the baby days?? I feel that I might really regret not even trying. I didn't get pregnant easily with the second two and saw an acupuncturist - it's not something I'm willing to do again. I feel that it will either happen or will it not.... however ask me again in a few months when I'm not pregnant!! I would def recommend you looking into it along with TCM, it was amazing x

First, I was in denial with secondary infertility as I had both my girls (one at 25 and one at 39 effortlessly). Now that I'm 41, trying for a year with 2 back to back miscarriages, I would say take more aggressive measures sooner than later. They did recommend 100mg of Clomid for me and I did get pregnant but MC due to poor egg quality. I think Clomid helps us older ones get our eggs more mature.

If you haven't had cycle day 3 FSH hormone levels taken and AMH and Day 21 progesterone tests done, I would. It gives you a good picture of how strong your fertility is. Mine came back borderline on FSH and AMH.

Best of luck!

Clomid/IUI worked for me on out 2nd try. I had 2 kids at the time and was dealing with secondary infertility. We tried for 8 months on our own before starting clomid. I was 41 when I became pregnant with our 3rd child. I had perimenopausal symptoms too, but my labs looked pretty good. My doctor said clomid is still a good option for women over 40 and I'm glad we went that route and didn't wait. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!
