Hi everyone, i gave birth 3 weeks ago, i have been checked by my doctor who says i am healing quite well, am still in pain and am finding that i cant stand or walk for very long, as i get this sore pressure feeling down there!

Is this just the healing process??

Yes I had that. I had a 3c tear with episiotomy and I could not walk for long periods or even stand for long periods for 3-4 weeks. It just felt very "heavy" down there. Everything healed up well though. It was hell at first wasn't it? I felt like I was so swollen down there I was carrying a football between my legs.

i had that and i only had 2 small grazes inside, few stitches. Had really bad pressure feeling that lasted about 4 weeks. Its perfectly normal.

thanks for your replies ladies, its good to know that it is normal, i dont want to do much research into this as i think i would prefer not to know..... does pelvic floor exercises help with this as i have only started doing these in the last few days??

I think pelvic floor exercises help alot if you do them enough! I haven't done them much at all and am still suffering problems 3 months on.. so don't do what I did lol! I'm just really bad at remembering.. the thing is I still feel sore and pressure down there some of the time and its hard to think why!

Im back with the doctor next week so i will ask her about it! I'm just like you though i do tend to forget to do them and then when i do actually do them i never know for how long to do them! !

I had that feeling :( Will you be referred to a physiotherapist? I was referred at 8 weeks post partum and I found it really helped/reassured me xx

I think they say do ten seconds at a time for a few times then you can raise it to ten seconds five times and so on.. I know there's the short ones you can do but I haven't been told about them so god knows. My docs are rubbish, I wish I'd been referred for physio months ago!! Do push for it if you think it will benefit you as loads of ppl have said it helped greatly. My docs here are rubbish and I'm going to push for it after my surgery in feb. good luck hun xx

My LO is 22 months. I was referred to a physiotherapist and also had a follow up with a consultant around 10 weeks post partum. The follow up with the consultant was just to discuss the options for any future births.

To be honest it took about a year before I felt ok-ish again. I had an episiotomy and seperate tear so two seperate scars

I hope you're ok :hugs: xx

Was you feeling uncomfortable/sore for around a year??! What problems did you experience? General discomfort?! Did the physio help alot?

I will ask for some help if thats so, I'm 14 weeks pp and still suffering with problems.. I didn't have an epsiotomy but tore in a few places inside and out and it took a while to heal, I still have scarring!

If I were to ever have another child (which I don't think I will at the point I'm at now) I would definitely want a c-sec.. could never go through another vaginal birth after the pain and problems I've been having :nope:

I typed a massive reply but decided just to pm you rather than post on here :hugs: xx

ah cud u send on the PM too as i would like to know how you felt for a year, that sounds terrible, i keep clinging to the hope that this pain/feeling will subside after 6-8 weeks! Went to my own doctor today and she was very cool about the whole thing, so i think i will discuss it all at the hospital apt at 6 weeks : (

Im doing pelvic floors and also sitting on an inflatable ring and having daily badedas baths - Ive got infected stictches so its v sore - fingers crossed your pain will ease soon x

How did you know you had an infection? I am so paranoid of getting one am not back with doctor for another 2 weeks!

My infection was a womb infection I believe so might be slightly different but I had a late PPH and it smelt and was very heavy bleeding.

Where as I was given antibiotics to prevent infection when a couple of my stitches came a little loose, but I don't know if I actually got infected. I imagine you'd know, it might be very sore or smelly discharge!

it smelt and leaks pus - still is- -had allergic reaction to antibiotics too

I had my lo 8 days ago and feel like the pain will never stop :( its so difficult to sit to feed him and I missed out on doing anything for him the first few days. Also lay in the delivery suite from 7.30pm to 2.30am waiting to go to surgery, but they kept taking emergencies,so I was in a bad way by the time I was fixed, was in theatre 2 and a half hours. It feels so heavy down there, like everythings about to fall out!
