I just found out my 3rd iui failed. I had stage 3 endo removed along with 2 uterine fibroids in March of this year. Before that we had been ttc for 1 year and 7 months with no reason for IF up to that point. When I had my lap & hysteroscopy my RE was pretty sure he found the problem. Since March I had been on Clomid every cycle 50mg cd3-7, trigger shot, and iui. This last cycle I insisted on doing progesterone supplemtents after iui because I spot for 2-6 days before AF shows up since coming off the bcp in August of 2010.

I feel like iui's are a waste of time... Our plan is to do one more though before moving to ivf. Honestly, I dont think I can justify doing ivf at this point. I know if it works it would be worth it. But if it doesn't work then the emotional toll is going to be so much worse than having a failed iui. Know what I mean!?

I need some positive success stories of women who had had endo and had issues conceiving, but either iui or ivf worked!!!

Thanks ladies!!

I know exactly what you mean! I just spent some time reading through success stories, it made me feel a little better. I think we are going to do one more IUI. The more I read about IVF, the more worried I get. It seems like a huge drain of not only money, but emotionally and its a lot to do to your body.

*lurker*
I don't have endo (that I know of), but PCOS. I did two IUIs with Clomid, which didn't work. Then three IUIs with injectables. And the last one worked. So, five altogether. I was actually about to give up after five and had IVF booked, when I found out the last one worked. So, there is reason to hang in there.

Thanks Clio! I am really thinking that I have to prepare myself for not bearing children and that is a hard pill to swallow. Endo is such a horrible thing to deal with and I never even had heard of it until a year ago. Let alone having it!

Hang in there. I was TTC for 4 years when it finally happened. All the doctors kept threatening endo on top of PCOS because of my age (I was 34 when I started and 38 when I finally conceived), and it struck such fear into my heart. But I know of many women who have had success after laps.

There is some statistic out there about a certain number of IUIs being as effective as one IVF. Unfortunately I can't remember the number... Have you tried anything stronger than Clomid? We didn't have success until we moved onto "the harder stuff." My lining was crap, so I needed some extra help.

I'm sorry it's so hard right now. The painful memories of LTTTC are still very fresh in my mind, so I can appreciate how you feel.

Thanks for the positivity Clio! I need it right now! :)

I am seeing results in clomid, last 2 cycles I had 3 follicles to trigger. My lining is really good and thick too, DH sperm is above normal. Honestly I think what we are doing is good, but I think the endo is preventing it from happening. I asked my dr about injectables and he said its not in good practice with an iui, your chances are too high to have high order multiples with that protocol.

I have seen some statistics that say you need to give iui 3 or 4 tries to it to work. My RE said 2-3 tries with it and then move on. He said we could do more at our discretion, it wouldn't hurt anything - just might not work. Dh and I said we would give it 4 tries, but now that we are here I am having a tough time.

We have always avoided injectables for that reason. Our infertility has been unexplained, so ovulation was not the issue.

I did clomid IUI for my first son and got prenant with my 4th cycle.

I recently have done femara IUI for 3 cycles, all of which failed. I am currently trying to get a 4th round of IUI in (I was just told my DH will be out of town on ov day, figures :dohh:). Honestly, I don't really hold out any hope for it to work, but we don't want to do IVF, and I figure this is something I can do. I did need to take a break though. I did 2 cycles back to back in Jan/Feb and I really needed to back away from it for a little bit. It's so depressing when it fails.

So, I guess this is a positive and a negative post. :haha:
It seems like I see so many stories of women that get pregnant on their first cycle of meds, or their first IUI. It really is disheartening. So, even if this isn't a super uplifting post, at least you know you are not alone. I have had a total of 6 failed IUIs.........it just stinks. :hugs:
