Hey all

I am back trying to conceive after 2 m/c very early at around 6 weeks. I just wondered what everyones thoughts were in relation to it happening a third time round and is there anyway i can prevent it? xx

Hi. Sorry for your losses. The best thing i can suggest is taking daily baby aspirin. If you buy th 75mg tablets and take from TTC through to 12 weeks then stop. They help blood flow to the uterus and baby xxx

Hey all

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. I'm in the same boat. I had an early mc (which was determined to be a blighted ovum) and then a second mmc (around 9 weeks after hearing a heart beat at 7 weeks). My regular obgyn suggested a little closer monitoring before my next pregnancy - but for me that wasn't enough. I made an appt with a Reproductive Endroconologist and he did a very thorough recurrent miscarriage workup. And thank goodness b/c it was found i have a borderline blood clotting condition. Basically when I'm pregnant my blood creates tiny clots that keep the fetus from growing normally.
So - I now have to do twice a day heparin (blood thinner) injections starting at 4 dpo until I take a pregancy test. If it's positive I continue the shots throughout the pregnancy - if not, I stop and wait for the next cycle. This is my 3rd month doing the shots (plus I'm taking a daily baby aspirin, extra folic acid & Crinone Gel (progesterone) starting at 4po too). I feel like a walking science experiment but it's all worth it if it I can have a healthy pregnancy.

Two miscarriages is too many. And the old way of thinking - waiting until a 3rd miscarriage before doing any tests is ridiculous. I'm lucky I found an RE who was very supportive and helped me find a reason. Now I just hope the treatments will work and I'll go on to have a healthy pregnancy. (FYI - I'm a huge needle phobic - and the shots are no big deal at all - super easy and don't hurt a bit)

My suggestion - try to meet w/ a specialist. If you have a fertility clinic around - call and ask if any of their doctors specialize in recurrent miscarriages. If nothing else - seeing a specialist can give you peace of mind that you're not missing something.

I wish you the best!!
