3w3d pregnant, doctor wants more tests.. :(

Hey all,

I got my very first BFP on new years day! Yipee!!!
We are extremely lucky because this is our first cycle of trying

I went and seen the doc yesterday to confirm, we did bloods and they took a urine sample (but did not do their own preg test?? :/ is that weird??)

I got a phone call today from the doc asking to come back? There was an issue with the results and they wanted to make sure my levels were rising..

Is this normal?? I'm scared this is our very first peanut and I have had issues with reoccuring cysts, my appt with the specialist is on the 20th..

Any advice is extremely appreciated, thank you!! Xox

If they are checking hcg you have to go back to make sure levels are rising. So yeah, when I checked my levels I went in twice.

It's normal to have hcg checked multiple times as it's not so much the number that is important but more the rate that it's increasing. Good luck!

I'm constantly cramping on the right side of my uterus, this is normal isnt it?

I wish there was an off switch for my mind sometimes!! Haha

the cramping is normal provided it's not agony and there's no bleeding

Did they tell you your number? I also got my bfp before 4w and when the gp phoned me she said it is positive but extremely low (17). I went to obgyn and she told me that it has to start somewhere and she wasn't worried at all. Didn't even want to do a repeat but I insisted as I was freaking out. And everything doubled fine. I am now 8+1 and had a scan at 7+4 and everything was perfect.

First of all- congratulations! Repeat hcg is normal! I had 2 hcg tests early in week 4. First number doesn't mean anything, the main thing is that the levels grow appropriately. Make sure to ask them what the numbers were for the first and second test, so we can analyze together here

They wouldn't give me any results over the phone, I was super annoyed haha. I am seeing the doctor this afternoon so he will be able to tell me what my levels were hopefully. I will be asking for a report of the results!

Thank you so much everyone, I just want everything to be perfect. I am trying not to get too excited, I wont know if anything is wrong until my scan which is another 3 weeks away, I can tell I am going to go mad!!! haha.

good luck at your appt today- but like the other ladies have said it is normal to have hcg levels repeated. I went for my 3rd blood draw today.

Also like other ladies have said its just normal Procedure Hun, the first number doesn't mean anything it's the 2nd and 3rd etc to show that the hcg levels are rising correctly, wishing you all the best Hun please let us know how you get on fx xxx

Hey ladies!!

Just got home from the doctor and my levels were at 29.. Everything else is normal, he said there was white blood cells in my urine which is also normal in pregnancy.. I won't know my results unless the doc calls me, and she will only call me.if there is a problem.. So I guess no news is good news!! Keep your fingers crossed for me.. ) I feel so blessed!!!

I got a negative test on the 30th, didn't test on the 31st, then got my bfp on the 1st and had my bloods taken on the 2nd.. So to have a level of 29 that early is good... Right??? Haha.

The cramping has slowed down, every now and then I get a small cramp but not as bad as they were a few days ago..

I had cramping when I was that early in my pregnancy. I'm 9 weeks + 2 days now and the cramping has pretty much stopped. When I was around 3-4 weeks I had cramping on and off on both sides and in my lower abdomen. I wouldn't be too concerned unless the cramping is accompanied by red blood. Congrats to you!!

My next biggest challenge is quitting.smoking

Wish I did this ages ago, I've cut right back now but it's still proving very hard.. Any suggestions??

I would talk to your doctor about the smoking, I have heard of very heavy smoking women who were instructed to cut back rather than quit. I quit smoking when I was 20 (had smoked for 3 years). I just went cold turkey and exercised until I could have died. After about two weeks I felt pretty free and clear.
