I started weaning my baby when she was 4.5 m old because she has terrible reflux and seemed hungry . She did well on baby rice mixed with formula fist few days it's been downhill since then ! I've tried slowly with potato and carrot abd pear but felt maybe she was getting tummy ache in nite as she went from waking once or twice to every 2 hrs at night.

With s toddler to look after in exhausted can't go on much longer . I didn't give the rice in evening last night abd just fed her as much as I could but she's waking the same amounts . She does cry terribly when the food I give her finishes like really cry hard .

She only takes one side when wakes goes straight bak to sleep. I'm confused if she's hubgry or is she being naughty with wanting boob . I've tried giving dummy at first or shh her or picking her she will not settle .

Help :( feel like in slowly dying of tiredness ! My first baby never did this

The early rice and formula may have upset her belly. She probably is just a little hungry from a growth spurt, or needing comfort from a development stage. I wouldn't consider a baby that young 'naughty' for wanting to nurse a bit. If your tired are you willing to try cosleeping so you can just sleep through her nursing? Good luck.

If it was me, I would Co-sleep, feed her as often as she wants/needs and try solid food again at a later date. Might be the 4 month sleep regression thing x

Baby rice is notorious for giving belly ache. Plus it will fill her but not nutritious really. Id scrap it and wait. 4.5m is early but maybe try porridge instead as thatll help reflux and is more gentle.

We are going through similar! For the last month LO has gone from sleeping 5-8 hours at a time to sleeping only 2-3. All night, every night! Thankfully I don't have a toddler to keep busy so I am managing ok but I am so looking forward to some more sleep. Alfie takes a lot of milk when he wakes so I am confident he's hungry - may be a growth spurt. It has been going on ages though. We started weaning a few weeks ago (not because of the lack of sleep, just because he is showing all the signs) but it hasn't made any difference. He is taking to it well but we are taking it at his pace and he only has 2-3 tsps of various purees twice a day.

I will be stalking this thread to see if anyone has any solutions!! At the moment I am just nursing him whenever he wants so he goes back to sleep! I don't mind getting up to feed and cuddle him as he does usually go straight back to sleep after, but would be nice to get a 4-5 hour stretch again!

There is a huge wonder week around 4 months that for us lasted 4 weeks. During it lo woke up a lot to nurse. Just go with it if you can, it will pass.
Warning, there is another one around 6 months. Thankfully we've made it through that alive.

Thanks everyone . I did omit food the next day abd she still woke as much . I will slow down weaning tho she does seem v keen to eat . I don't technically co sleep but when I goto her room to feed I put her back in cot and stay in her room. She's become v mobile now keeps rolling onto her front or side I'm bit scared to co sleep on the futon think she's safer in the cot. I have notice today incidentally that she has two teeth coming thru so Iguess tthat doesn't help !! Not sure what is going on loads of things perhaps but really hope it passes soon I wake up in the morning abd count down the minutes until it's 7 pm bedtime for my toddler !!

I don't mean naughty naughty ! I love feeding her but it's bit demanding with my toddler I think she's v distracted when I feed her too so she fusses looks around abd startles when her sister shouts around us. It's hard to know when she's finished a complete feed she takes so long and I've got to get on with cooking sorting sister out etc . Hard work being mum ! Thinking to go back to work so I get s break !
