Hi ladies

I am 5 weeks today and I have been having some pain, i went for a scan on Friday which made me 4w 5d, we couldn't see anything at all but I half expected it due to it being so early. I had blood taken that day and I got told to come back today to make sure my hormones are increasing.

I got a call this evening telling me that my hormones have doubled in 48 hours but they still want me in for a scan, I'm going for it on Thursday which will make me 5w 4d. I believe they are re scanning me due to not seeing anything in the first scan and not because of the blood tests. BUT will it still be too early?

Ladies please tell me of any personal experience like this or any info you may have regardless of the outcome. Thanks in advance xx

My very first pregnancy I bled on and off until I miscarried at 8 weeks. Hormones seemed fine, scans were fine but we never located a heartbeat.

My second I bled every 3-4 weeks until about 16 weeks although everything seemed fine. In retrospect it was kind of like a mild period, but at the time was very scary. Especially when I had my first scan at about 4.5 weeks and the Dr told me there was no sign of a pregnancy, and my uterus didn't even appear to have "bulked up" in any way to support a pregnancy. That baby is now a healthy 7 year old.

My third I bled from 7 weeks, again all seemed well otherwise. At 9 weeks I had a huge bleed, soaking through pads, clots, cramps. We discovered a tear at the edge of the placenta. Although it took almost 4 weeks to heal, the baby was completely oblivious and is now a healthy 3 year old.

I'm pregnant again. This time I made it to the dating scan without incident. But the next night I had a massive gush of blood, a bleed behind the placenta. The Dr didn't seem incredibly positive about it, however we are now 3 weeks down the line and baby is otherwise fine and oblivious. Still due some check ups and such and I won't relax until I know all has healed and baby is safely in my arms.

Bleeding is extremely scary, but its also quite common and doesn't always mean the worst. At 5.4 weeks they should hopefully be able to see the sac and help put your mind at ease. Good luck!

bleeding can be very scary but its also very common...
4-5 weeks most people do not see anything, in fact alot of people dont see anything till 7 or 8 weeks...so dont panic if you go back and still dont see much...

:hugs:

Hi I had a scan at 5+5 and they could see 2 sacs and a yolk in one, so hopefully you should see a sac at least. Good luck xx

I had really bad cramps and pain from week 4-6 and everything was fine. If you are worried, then talk more to your gp. Also my 6 week scan was too early to see anything or get a good estimated due date
