Ok. So I am going to tell exactly my experience off 3rd csection-
I was supposed to have my elective csection on June 26th, but dr agreed to do it on June 23rd. The day before, I had to go to pre-op.
this consisted of lots of questions, and drawing blood. They also have me a body wash to use the night before and the morning of my csection to minimize infection.
Ok so my section was scheduled for 7a-so I had to be there at 5am-my family and I woke up at 330a to get ready. Of course I couldn't eat or drink anything past midnight the day before,...you can literally eat or drink up to 1159p. I had my husband wake me up at 1150p that night before so I could drink lots of water.
When we arrived at the Hospital, it was pretty quick. They took me to a room where I changed into my gown, and they asked a few more questions. They put in my iv, and shaved me (with an electric razor which was different than my other sections) then we just waited til it was time. As they were wheeling me in, they gave me an antacid to drink.
In the surgery room, I started to get SUPER nervous. I was shaking! They did my epideral, and I think they did it twice cuz I moved. Someone had to hold me and show me how to sit.
Then they laid me down and put in my catheter(always ask to have it inserted after the epideral, no need for unnecessary pain)
Then they rubbed my belly with an antiseptic, I chatted with the anesthesiologist, and then they let my husband in. I was SO happy to see him. Then they started. I didn't feel anything, just a little tugging, and they said ok here he comes, and I felt the baby come out(not painful-just the sensation of him coming out) it was a weird feeling. I didn't know until after I was in recovery that my baby took a little while to breathe...my husband didn't tell me when it was happening so I wouldn't freak out. But he breathed and my husband cried with relief. Then they weighed him. 8lbs 2oz! My biggest boy yet! They then brought him to me, and held his face next to mine. His eyes were closed. I told him"hi baby" and he opened his eyes immediately. It was so magical! He knew my voice.
So after they got me put back together, they put my baby on my chest and wheeled us to recovery. There he breastfeed almost immediately. And after that is where things got fuzzy. People said I acted and talked normal, but I don't remember a lot of things. I was allowed ice chips here.
After recovery I was taken to my room. I was given jello and broth. I ate a little just to get my system back to normal. It wasn't until around midnight that they asked me to try and get out of bed. 2 nurses helped me. And it wasn't as bad as I expected walking to the bathroom. I don't remember This next thing From my other sections- but when I sat down to pee- I thought I was passing parts of my organs! There were lots of clots. But they assured me it was normal. I think that was one if the worst parts of the csection. I didn't experience much pain at all. I ate the hospital food and tried to FRI k lots of juice and water.
#1....take your pain meds even when ur not hurting! It made my recovery so much better!!
#2.....I don't care if your digestive system is always normal and you have no problems using #2, take the stool softeners And milk of magnesia. I usually have a normal system, and I even room the softeners, and 5 days after my section, I still hadn't used the restroom. And when I finally had the urge to go, 4 hours of sitting on the toilet, I had to literally dig it out. Yes, I'm serious. And this my friends was the absolute WORST part of my entire csection experience. So do not take this lightly. Be proactive and take the necessary measures to be able to go.
And that brings me to today. My baby is 4 weeks old. And I have been getting only 2-3 hours of sleep at a time due to feedings. I didn't breast feed much.
I tried to make this as short as possible.
I could probly write a book about my experience...just because I like to include what I wish I would've known.-If y'all have any questions or need any advice, feel free to ask!
