Hello all,

As the title says I am 41 weeks and 3 days today with my first child and still no sign of me going into labour. I had a sweep last week which revealed that my cervix was posterior, thick and too far back for my midwife to get a hold of (sorry ladies). In her words 'this baby aint coming for a while yet!!'

I have tried everything daily to induce labour: raspberry tea, spicy food, long walks, dancing, jumping up and down, sex, pineapple, castor oil, hot baths, showers, my birthing ball, reflexology, meditation, yoga, even clary sage oil and nothing will shift him. I know he'll be here when he is ready and thats what i want - I am or was opting for a water birth at home, but now am booked in on Thurs for hospital induction - I have a sweep 2m but really dont think he is budging.

I was just after any info or help that maybe I haven't tried that may have worked for others? I have had no loose stools, but last night had slight cramping on and off for an hr but thats it - and even then i wouldn't say it was BH just like a muscle ache in my pelvis, it wasnt painful at all. I have had nothing in the days, but I read everwhere that you get all these signs before labour - even my midwife was shocked I had had nothing. I feel fit, healthy etc. No mucus plug loss, no mucus loss at all.

I fear he's sewn himself inside for the winter :nope:

Moved form the help section to 3rd tri!

I've been told by the midwife that nipple stimulation and sex are the only ones that are most likely to bring on labour. Have a read up on nipple stimulation as there are set ways to do it and from what I read, is recommended an hour at a time (swapping every 15 minutes to the other nipple)

Xx

I could have written this post at this point in my pregnancy. I was actually booked for an induction at 7:30 PM on 41+3. 41+1, my Bishop score was still 0, sweep was impossible. At 3 PM on induction day I had bloody show, and by dinnertime I was having regular contractions. So, it is never too late for things to start!

I'm not sure anything worked for me. I got a massage and had sex the day labor started but I'd done both of those things earlier on with no progress. My advice would be to continue doing your favorite labor induction things, the ones that make you feel the most relaxed. I don't regret that I tried everything I did, because if I hadn't, I always would have wondered if I could have gone into labor earlier. This way I know I did everything I could.

Try this one: people say babies love to be as inconvenient as possible. So make some plans you are excited about, go out on a fancy date night, get concert tickets, throw a party, drive somewhere a few hours from home. That method didn't work for me either, but it certainly provided the best memories of an otherwise frustrating last month of pregnancy. :)

Bless ya, know how you feel! Both my boys arrived at 41+5, after going into labour naturally at 41+4! I'd had a sweep 3 days before with last one, don't know if it helped or not, but map willing to try everything! Fingers crossed it kicks off soon for you xxx
