I'm sure you can get pregnant. As you wrote there are a lot of mothers to be who are overweighted. If you do not have any other serious problems with your health I'm sure you could have a baby.
I am overweight and TTC as well. I have PCOS so find it super hard to lose weight.
It's not impossible to conceive if you are overweight but i don't think losing a few lbs does any harm either. I'm currently on a weight loss mission before i start Clomid and before i get married
I'm overweight and TTC. I've read that it's not impossible but it is hard, but at the same time I've read that that is a load of bull. So, I'm going with the latter. Although like some have said, it won't do any harm losing some of that good old cushioning
But no, I don't think it makes any difference. Unless your weight is yo-yoing because that can affect ovulation.
I'm overweight and TTC, I hope I can concieve and it doesn't stop me, I'm not massively overweight, saying that I'd like to be 3 stone lighter!
I've been on a healthy eating diet for about 3 weeks now and have lost some weight (10 pounds).
I have a terrible fear that I'll be pregnant and people will just think I've got even fatter, I have a feeling that even if I do lose weight people will think that because I've always carried my weight on my stomach area.
Recently I've been getting prank calls from some horrible girls who keep ringing claiming to be from Weight Watchers, its been really getting me down and has forced me into losing weight, no doubt that won't stop them but at least I will feel better.
Just to put my 2p worth in ...I think extremes in weight (big or small) can sometimes stop you from ovulating and then of course it is unlikely you'll get preggers.
However, I am a very big girl and even though it took me a few months for my cycles to get back to normal after coming off the pill, I ovulated every month.
Before coming off the pill I went to see my Doctor to see whether I was being completely bonkers in thinking of TTC and he said go for it - you're active and bp/bloods are normal so if this is the right time for you - I support you.
Saying that, I did join Slimming World in June and lost just over a stone and I think just that tiny bit of weight (a drop in the ocean compared to my actual weight!!!) helped me get my bfp. It has also set me up with some good habits to continue during the next 7 months (once this bloomin ms goes!).
Also, just wanted to add to previous poster- about the prank calls - how disgusting!!!! Can you get BT to trace the number? I would honestly think about reporting it to the police as it is harassment. You poor thing

I have reported one of the calls to the police because the girl threatend me.
I'll be ok, everyone I speak to says its because they're jealous of me. They know that my weight gets me down so they play on that.
BT wont trace numbers so I was reluctant to go to the police about it, you can get BT to block all witheld numbers but because we recieve a lot of genuine calls from witheld numbers (my OH's boss etc) I didn't want to do that.
I am classed as morbidly obese (Hate that label!) My bmi must be around the 45 mark
I didn't have a problem getting preg with ds though it was 14 years ago and I was a lot slimmer then so I thought I would this time b/c of my weight.
I came off my pill on the 28th April, it took me 7 weeks to get my period then I had a 24 day cycle then got my
My doctors have been great and when I went to see him about ttc and weight he said go for it there is only problems if your weight stops you from ovulating which luckily mine didn't.
Then when I saw my mw for the first time she was great too and said yes there are risk factors with being preggo and overweight but nothing that a normal weight person can't experience.
If you are overwieght - especially if in the obese range - it is better to try to get as fit as possible if planning to get pregnant. It would be better for your future baby. Children whose mothers were overweight while pregnant are more likely to be bigger babies and overweight as children.
My big sister is overweight, only a bit overweight now she used to be clinically obese and has always been a big girl, but she conceived my niece amber and had no problems throughout her pregnancy even with the extra pounds she naturally had to gain, amber came to the world bang on her due date and vaginally, with no problems at all!!!
Don't let the doctors pull you down about your weight and convince you it's a problem, unless it's stopping your period or you are having other weight related health problems you will have a normal pregnancy.
I on the other hand am the opposite and im underweight, i had SPD during my pregnancy, and i had to have a c section in the end, after a failed ventouse delivery my son was badly jaundiced from the head trauma it had caused and i had to spend a week in hospital with him under the lamps.
I am overweight. I'm a big girl. I am finding it is hard to conceive. but I haven't been checked out yet so it could be due to other issues. I too see girls bigger than me get pregnant so maybe its more based off the individual.
I'm overweight and TTC. We've just started trying. We knew a long way in advance we'd want to start trying now, so I started trying to lose weight last November. I've lost about 23lbs since then, but I'm still very overweight. I'm not overly concerned though. I came off the pill 6 weeks ago (had no periods whilst on it) and just started my first AF today, so things seem to be getting back to normal very quickly, despite my weight.
The main problem is if you are very overweight is ovulation is more likely to stop (just as if you are very underweight). But it doesn't mean this will happen to all overweight women and a study I read about a while ago said even a 5% weight loss can hugely increase your chances of conceiving. I plan to continue to eat sensibly and I play badminton 1-2 a week to stay active. I've pretty optimistic I will be able to conceive - both my mum and my sister were overweight and they both conceived very easily - although admittedly I am fatter than they were!
