So good to see everyone doing well.

Happy MzItalian stopped in! Good luck with wedding planning and crazy work. Seems like I went through the same thing not so long ago. I remember those days. Do as much as you can. Leave the rest to God!

Mustang, I can not believe you are 36 weeks already. Awesome!!! h&h

Betty your daughter is beautiful. Times flies doesn't it?

Well ladies just stopping by to show love :flower: to everyone

:dust: to all of us still trying. :)

Got some not-so-good news today. Seems I have developed mild pre-eclampsia. Doctor called me at work this morning to say I am officially on bed rest and that she will probably want to induce at 37 or 38 weeks.

I am feeling kind of devastated. My hopes were to try and keep things as natural as possible and from research I have heard that induction can start a domino effect (IV, fetal monitoring, epidural, cesarean). Luckily we hired a doula last week and I know by having her there it will help keep me strong and hopefully help enough to be able to prevent any major interventions being needed.

Oh Mustang I am sorry to hear that :( I have a strong family history of pre-eclampsia so I am a bit worried that may happen to me too. I guess the most important thing is that you and baby are safe, I'm sure if you explain your wishes to your Dr/Midwives about keeping things as natural as possible they will try and accomodate you. Having a Doula will be fab, as she can be a real advocate for you and baby during labour.

Good luck hunni - will be thinking of you Xxx

Thanks Lara :flower:

Boo, Mustang! I'm sorry. :nope: If it helps, my mother was induced with me (between 38 and 39 weeks) and I came way faster and was a way easier labor than she had with her first. I came so fast she didn't even have time to have an epidural.

Of course the most important thing is the health of you and your son. I don't like the thought of being induced at all, but I know I would go with it if either mine or baby's health was at a serious enough risk. I'd take the silver lining and run with it -- you get more of a choice of when it happens! :winkwink: You'll have much less of the "OMG, is my water going to break while I'm sitting at my desk at work?!" anxiety. Plus, there's always a chance you'll go into labor naturally before the induction. Fx that happens.
That happened with a friend of mine's SIL about a month ago -- she went into labor naturally and had her son the night before her scheduled induction (she was nearly 2 weeks "overdue").

Thanks LittleSpy. That is good to know. And you have a great way at looking at the positive

Thought you might like to hear my experience. I had to be induced because Fran was almost 2 weeks late.

First the midwife broke my waters to see if my contractions would start naturally. Unfortunately they didn't so I was hooked up to an iv drip which kickstarted my labour. I had to be attached to a monitor to keep an eye on her heartbeat but it also records your contractions - you can actually see before you feel when one is coming which is pretty amazing.

Despite the tubes and wires I was still able to stand up and walk around a bit if I wanted. So while it was a little restrictive it didn't hinder me having an active labour (as it turns out I was so tired I spent most of the time asleep on the bed but I was up and about as much as I wanted).

I was a bit worried because I'd heard being induced can make labour hurt a lot more but I actually found it more than manageable. The thought of having an epidural never entered my head - even for a split second.

I think it made things happen a lot quicker too. My contractions started around 1.30am and the first couple were about 20 mins apart. Then all of a sudden they jumped to 2 mins apart and before I knew it I was pushing and Fran arrived at 8.26am.

I had one shot of pethedine about an hour into labour (which didn't really do anything) and did the rest on gas and air. I was very proud of myself :happydance:

So being induced doesn't mean you need any intervention. Just stay positive and I'm sure everything will be just fine for you love xxx

Thanks Betty. :hugs: You should be proud of your birth! It sounds like it went smoothly and the fact that you didn't even consider an epidural and a cause for cheers.

I just want to make sure I feel the same way after mine.

Found out yesterday that we will be starting the induction process on Monday. I have accepted it and now am just looking forward to having my little guy in my arms. Next week at this time I will be a mom!! :happydance:

At least you don't have the waiting around for contractions to start and symptom spotting and "am I or aren't I in labour?"

I'm so excited for you :happydance:

Oohh - how exciting Mustang :) It must be so awesome to know that your little man will be here so soon. Good luck hun, really hope all goes just as you've planned Xxx

Yay, Mustang! Thinking of you today!

I'm with Betty -- thank goodness you don't have to wait around labor spotting. I'm already doing it at 32 weeks because my BH contractions really picked up out of nowhere last Friday & today I have lower back cramps on top of them. I'm 99% sure it's just me getting more uncomfortable the more pregnant I get coupled with the fact that our weather has recently jumped to reaching temps near 100 every day (which means I'm swelling like crazy!). But that 1% of "OMG, could I be in pre-term labor?!" is driving me mad.

Please share pictures! I can hardly wait to see him!

Thanks for your thoughts!!! I had the first dose of prostoglandin gel this morning and have been having minor, irregular contractions since then. Second dose is in an hour.

I appreciate you ladies so much! I will absolutely keep you updated :happydance:

Oooh sounds promising then! Good luck love xx

C'mon, Mustang! It's Thursday -- surely he's here by now. :happydance:

Of course you're a busy mama, but we need pictures and details and all that jazz. :winkwink:

No pressure. :haha:

Hello everyone!!! Sorry for the delay in updating. This is the first time I've seen a computer in days! My son, Jaxon Christopher was born on Wednesday, May 25th at 12:47 AM. He weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces is 21 inches long.

I began induction Monday morning with a dose of prostaglandin gel. Mild contractions started almost immediately and continued all day. That evening went I went in for my scheduled second dose, the MW said I was contracting enough so I did not need it. That was around 5:30pm. At about 9:45 pm my water broke and the contractions picked up immediately. Went to the hospital and found that I was only dilated 1 cm. DH and I decided to stay there and try to get some rest. The contractions continued (strong and steady) but at 3:45pm the next day I was only 5 cm. We decided to start pitocin which greatly increased the strength and frequency of the contractions. The doctor was to keeping me on almost constant fetal monitoring but we could only pick up his heart rate when I was laying down and that was the most uncomfortable position to have a contraction in. For that reason (and the fact that I was absolutely exhausted) I had an epidural at about 7pm. At 9:30 pm I was 9 1/2 cm dilated and having the urge to push. I was finally able to push him out at 12:47 that night!

I'm still in shock that I was able to do it and I feel like a different woman. Like I have crossed over :haha:

This was the best picture I could get right now, as my own camera was left at home in the rush of my water breaking. I will update with more soon but I am absolutely, 100% IN LOVE with this little man!! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:
