Yesterday was the worst day, we lost our baby, most likely just after our last healthy scan seeing baby with heartbeat

My OH is devastated as this was his first. He was so excited. He is a brilliant step dad to DD1 and we really want a sibling to make our family complete. I feel numb at the minute but my way of coping is to be active and keep busy. We're trying to remain positive and discussed ttc as soon as we're able to, and hopefully we'll get our rainbow baby soon

This, however is the 4th miscarriage I've gone through over the course of 17 years :(

I don't know if there is an underlying factor or whether it's just sheer bad luck. I have PCOS but I would say it's mild and because I already have a daughter I don't really think that's affecting anything as I have no problem conceiving. But we're both not getting any younger either and I feel time is not on our side.

I am booked to see my GP on Friday to get a referral for further investigations. Not sure what this will involve though or if it will answer any questions.

Really sorry for your loss. I had a D&C two weeks ago at what would have been 11 weeks (baby died at 10).
I have a DD and this was my third MMC in a row.
Just been to see a specialist at the lister. Possible causes of miscarriage he said were:

-chromosomal issues (which can be random or caused by issues with sperm or egg)
- karyotype issues (basically sth wrong with either your or OH's chromosomes)

- issues with me (thyroid, blood clotting, NK killer cells)
- issues with uterus (hysteroscopy is the only way to know for sure)

- sperm issues (DNA fragmentation)

Some of these tests can be done on the NHS. We are doing them privately as am nearly 36 and desperate for a second baby.

He said only things that can't be fixed are karyotype issues (have to have IVF) or DNA fragmentation of sperm (can have anti oxidant therapy but no proof it works). ICSI with IMSI are possible solutions.

As your MCs are not in a row could be bad luck? Hope you find answers soon and go on to have a healthy baby.

Xxx

Thanks Sweetkat xx So sorry for your losses too :hugs:

My miscarriages before my daughter were '3 in a row' so I went for tests etc, then they said I had PCOS and I was put on metformin but I was really sick on it. When I fell pregnant again it was after metformin and that was when I carried to full term so I dont know if it was a coincidence or if the metformin helped. They also checked my uterus and I have a tilted or retroverted one but they never said that would be the cause of m/c.

I've had genetic testing done as well due my sister and dad being severely disabled but I have the all clear from that too.

It's hard, I just want some answers but realistically I know I'm not likely to get them. I'm 38 next month and don't really want to 'wait' again for another 2 m/c before anyone will see me so I'm going to push to be seen given my history. My daughter is nearly 6, she is desperate for a sibling too and I really don't want a massive age gap either.

Have you tried NK killer cells/ blood clotting testing? That seems to be the only one you haven't done.

And your OH? Could he have issues like fragnentation? I am obsessed with that as I think my OH has it. A traditional sperm analysis could show everything is fine but the DNA in the sperm could be fragmented causing MCs.

As you have had your DD since your losses, it may have just been bad luck?

Hope 2017 brings us rainbows :)

Hugs
