5 month old fighting me at feedings

My LO has been fussy at feedings going on two weeks now. It was only at night but now extending into the day. He will show all signs of hunger, but when I go to feed him he will either tense up and pull away or suck a little bit then do the same thing. I've tried different positions, giving him Tylenol (he's teething), bringing him to a dark quiet room...nothing will stop him from fighting me. He usually gives in after a great deal of coaxing. I squirt some milk into his mouth, pat him on his butt, whisper to him and that eventually works. Sometimes none of that works so I give him to dad and take some time to calm down before trying again. This only started after I tried him on cereal a couple of times. Is this a sign that he's ready to wean?
