Im almost 5 weeks since an EMCS due to placental abruption and Im feeling great tbh except for an occassional *really* painful crampy pain 4/5 times a day, on the right side of my abdomen. It makes me stop what Im doing and I have to breathe thru it.
Not caused by movement/feeding or anything I can pinpoint, its not a pulled muscle pain and its not got any worse, just not any better either! - it just randomly hurts, a lot - if I hadnt already had it removed one could compare it to severe appendicitis. I also have pain in my right hip joint at random times during the day.
My scar, albeit huge (9in) is fine, healed well and not painful.

I mentioned it to the HV today, she said to mention it at my 6 wk check (iin 10 days) but I dont think I can ignore it for that much longer. Im no longer on any pain meds and this weekend Ive struggled.

How much pain is normal now? Not sure if Im just being a bit soft (I didnt know a thing about c-secs and still dont, cant bear to look it up) so dont want to waste my docs time if I just need to suck it up and finish healing :)

hey, well I am four weeks post partum and still get that pain you mention, when it comes on its really painful and its more around the muscles that were pulled during the operation than the scar, its not the scar that hurts its the tummy muscle area so yeah i think its normal, my doc told me to give it until the six week mark and even longer if it still hurts because every woman is different and it can take a couple of months for the pain to subside, i mean it still hurts for me to pick my little girl up out of her bassinet, or change table or actually twist and turn in bed, perhaps its longer for some women than others???
