I had an ultrasound on the 16th at 5w6d...a gestational sac and yolk sac were visible but no fetal pole. This seemed encouraging and I have a follow up scan on the 23rd to confirm viability. I had a blighted ovum this summer so I am feeling very anxious. I had morning sickness...nausea no vomiting pretty much every day and now at 6w2d I woke up feeling fine. I am so worried that this pregnancy is going to end badly too. Has anyone else had a similar experience? My hcg levels at 5w1d were 4291 and 5w3d 8590 so I had expected to see more on the ultrasound. Any help would be so appreciated.

I am sorry to have to undergo all this stress. I read that the fetal pole is usually identified at 6-6.5 weeks with ultrasound imaging, although it may not be seen until ~9 weeks in some cases. Sometimes it is just that you are miscalculating the gestational age and it might be really early to see the things visible in scan. Your HCG levels are pretty good and on the increasing trend so this gives you hope.

In pregnancy, there are no specific rules, everyone's uterus shape and embryonic implantation site is different, so maybe these theories won’t apply. I understand you had a bad experience in past and not every outcome is positive. However, continue to keep faith in god, miracles do happen and I wish lots of baby dust to you.
