Hi all,

I went for an early scan as I was experiencing cramping and light spotting. My Hcg levels were 20900 which is good for just over 6 weeks. However the u/s showed only gestational sac and yolk sac. There was no visible signs of fetal pole or heart beat. Has anyone experienced this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy. The doctor has asked me to have more blood tests and another u/s on Friday. I am so worried

25/6/10 Just got back from EPU.

There is a baby inside me!!! The crown to rump length was just over 3mm. It is a slow grower but it is there. The Doctor said not to stress that there is no heart beat yet. She has suggested I go back in 2 weeks for another scan to check the heart beat. I am so relieved. :happydance:

huge,huge,huge :hugs:
Is there a possibility your dates may be off?
I had a scan at 5ish weeks with this bub and because he was in a slightly odd place and the ultrasound machine was good but not great we could see very little. Went home convinced this would be our 4th loss in a row... Went back 10 days later there he was, heartbeat flickering away.
Sending lots of love and best wishes your way!

I dont know much about this but did not want to read and run. I am thinking of you, you are in my prayers and I hipe everything turns out well for you, I know how awful the uncertainty can be. Please keep us posted

I am pretty sure of my dates because I was testing my ovulation. I would only be a day or two out. I did some reading online and there are few stories like mine that resulted in successful pregnancies. I just wanted to know of it had happened to any real people :)

I am trying really hard to be positive.

I've read a few stories about people going for a 6 week scan and nothing there. Then they go back a week later and there's a baby with a heartbeat. At this early stage even being a couple of days out can make a difference and perhaps bubs implanted later as well.

It must be horrible having to wait. I've got my fingers crossed for you hun x

I only had a sac and yolk sac at 5w 4 days at 6w 6d there was a HB, it does happen just try and remain positive xxx

Thanks all I am trying really hard to stay positive. I am hoping my Hcg levels continue to rise and the scans on Friday and Thursday next week show better results.

Thinking about you MrsJo - I have seen a number of threads on the 1st tri boards where early scans showed little but later ones showed a healthy hb and baby.
:hugs:

At 6 weeks, even 2 days can make a big difference in the sonogram. Good luck with your sonogram on Friday.

:hugs: It may be too early and your dates are off, your HCG level is great and light spotting is known to happen in early pregnancy, I bet your scan on Friday will be just fine... Wishing you the best... Stay positive... I just think it was too early just like everyone said 2 days can make a difference, Keep us posted ;)

Sorry to hear your scan wasn't more reassuring. My first scan was the same way - yolk sac but no fetal pole. Had another scan about 5 days later and they found a heartbeat.

Hoping all goes well for you on Friday. I know the waiting must be driving you crazy. :hugs:

I"m crossing everything for you that the bubs is hangin in there... I really think it was just too early.. Tomorrow can't come fast enough... I'll pray for you tonight... Wishing you the best, let us know how things went :hugs:

Yay!! :happydance: :happydance: I'm soo happy for you... I prayed so hard the other night I literally past out, I prayed for everyone... lol

I'm so glad to hear the bubs is growing and is doing well. Keep us posted... :hugs:

Thanks girls. I have my first app with my Obstetrician on Thursday and I am hoping he will do another scan to check how the love bug is growing and hopefully we see the heart beat. Otherwise I have another scan booked with the EPU in a fortnight. My OH is really happy but I just need to see the heartbeat before I will relax. Too many bad memories of our last pregnancy for me to feel 'safe' yet.
