My LO is 7 months and 1 week old and has recently started to go off his bottle. He was taking 3 7oz bottles a day but now has started to refuse both his morning and afternoon one and sometimes only takes 4oz before bed. He is fully weaned, has weetabix/porridge and fruit for breakfast, dinner and fruit at lunch time, dinner and dessert for tea and then weetabix before bed. Do you reck this is ok? He was never fussed on his milk with having reflux etc, and seems much more settled now :flower:

teething? Omar goes through those phases of refusing his bottles, it usuall ylasts for 2-3 days. We had to switch to follow on at 7.5 mnths & he started to take a bit more xx

Yea he hasnt had any teeth since he was four months so maybe is that, plus the wee man woke up this morning with a bad cough and runny nose so maybe hes a wee sore throat too. Thanks. Il keep trying him anyways

Weetabix are quite filling for babies maybe the bedtime one is throwing him off his milk especially the bed time bottle

my daughter went through phases of having less milk but they were only phases. HV said not too worry if weaning is well established and they are eating 3 meals a day.

but dont get the weetabix before bed?

x

My HV told me to try weetabix/porridge before bed cause he was wakening hungry during the night, plus he would have tea around 4.30, and bed after 8. Maybe try give him fruit instead? |Just off phone to a different hv and she recks not to worry as hes getting a good variety of food during the day. Said as long as hes getting plenty of fruit, meat and dairy he shud be fine

Holly was exactly the same from around 7-9 months. HV just said to make sure she got lots of dairy and iron rich foods like red meat, broccoli. Now at 10.5 months she loves milk and drinks double what she was as well as eating lots and taking an afternoon snack too. Everything is a phase as far as I can work out with my lo!!

how about changing his meal times so he has tea later???

I agree. personally dont agree with giving things like weetabix before bed so would give dinner at 6 and then bed at 8

That's such classic HV advice! It was my HV's 'solution' to Ruby's sleep regressing a bit around the 8 month mark. We ignored her advice to offer extra food as Ruby clearly wasn't hungry just before bed, and it certainly wasn't hunger unsettling her in the night.

thanks for all your responses ladies. Well the weetabix did cure his sleep problems for about a week, must of been a coincidence as hes back to waking quite a bit. well after what a lot of you said i didnt give him any weetabix last night. He still refused his bottle, but after a very unsettled night he drained his 7oz bottle this morning which is his first milk hes taken all week. So will continue with the no weetabix and see how it goes :)
