Anyone tell me what is normal for a 7.5 month old?? I know that there's not any normal but just that there's nothing wrong!

Today my LO had 2 good feeds and maybe 1 smaller feed this afternoon and that was it! So from 12pm she has hardly had any milk! I would say that she normally feeds 4 hourly, sometimes 3 hourly during the day and STTN with no feeds from 6.30-7am. She has started solids with BLW and I feed her first, she eats really well, only has 2 meals a day. I just don't want her to stop breast feeding and I know that babies under one generally do not self wean.

She is a REALLY distracted baby, but has anyone with more experience had days when their LO has off days and feeds less? Is there anything yiu can do? It also concerns me as today was really humid and I just don't think she took in enough fluids today.

Well I don't have more experience as my baby is not even a week older, but my baby is also very distracted and has been for a couple months now. Because of that we have lots of days where he isn't very interested in nursing. I have tried not feeding him solids or feeding solids after but it doesn't make a difference. I think some babies are just very active and don't want to sit still that long.

Maybe somebody else has more info. I would love to hear tips as I have tried beads and necklaces to try and distract him but he gets bored of those as well.

Thanks but good to know that I'm not alone. Sophia has also been very distracted since 4 months, but it was more manageable, today was just impossible!

My LO is a couple months younger than yours, but I have some similar problems! When LO has an air bubble.. feeding him is impossible. He screams and freaks out, and then when I try to burp him he gets pissed that he's not eating and screams even more! It can be very stressful sometimes

And he's getting to the age where he's interested in everything else. I have to shut the TV off when I'm feeding.. I can't even hold up a conversation with my OH because LO will stop eating to watch us talk :dohh:

I have also been really worried that he won't be interested in eating forever. The older he gets the harder its getting to keep him eating the whole feeding, and the QUICKER he feeds (he went from 12-15 minutes, to 7 or 9 minutes long).

I'm so worried he's not getting enough! My LO also STTN from about 7:30pm - 5:30am and feeds every 2-3 hours during the day. I'm afraid my supply will diminish the older he gets. I'm also BLW too, and I read that BLW is great for letting BF babies feed longer because you reduce milk feeds gradually. I guess we need to trust our babies.. they will definitely eat when they are really hungry! But I'm worried.. what if I'm not making enough milk and I don't know? I'm going to ask a doctor about it at his 6 month appointment :)

Oh and I wanted to mention, my mom BF me and I WEANED MYSELF at 8 or 9 months!!! Apparently I just didn't want to BF anymore and would turn away and push her away every time she tried. I hope that doesn't happen with my LO :nope:

Well today Sophia decided that she was all about the boob! I don't so I guess there are days when they are really hungry and days when they're not. And today nothing was distracting her from eating, that's a first for ages!

Sophie has just gone through a long period of being disinterested in the breast. 4-5 hours had to go by AT LEAST, before she would nurse (even with no solids) and sometimes 7 hours.

I don't know why. She's getting better now and I can sometimes convince her to nurse every 3.5 hours, though it's usually 4 hourly.

She's BLW and has 1 or 2 small meals a day and nurses twice overnight.

Yep I have this problem too and my twins were born a few days before your LO!

One twin eats fine, consistently and anywhere. The other is a really distracted feeder... if we are at home I have to feed her in the bed away from TV, her sister and anyone talking. If a dog barks 2 miles away she will come off! Feeding her out-and-about is a nightmare

But her other thing is she will go days without really eating much at all. She has a couple of snacky feeds not draining a breast. Sometimes it's just a few sucks and she doesnt even wait for let-down she lets that spray in her ear or on my bed (apparently that's hilarous :dohh:). I get so frustrated as I think she is starving and particularly in this hot weather like you say they must get dehydrated?

But it seems to follow a pattern and it will be 2 or 3 days of pathetic feeding followed by eating like a horse for 3 or 4 days. Or sometimes she will starve herself in the morning only to have 6 big feeds in the afternoon/evening. I dont know what she's doing, but she seems to, and its working for her cos she is gaining well. So I have decided just to trust her instincts now... she is always happy and chirpy and when she is hungry she damn-well lets me know!

(We are BLW too)

Sounds very like Sophia! She laughs when my let down sprays all over her face!! I think you're right, I will just have to trust her. The last 2 days she has feed really well

Oh and Mezzerowner, I love the picture of your girls in their highchairs, cute!
