started a bit of blw at 5.5 months. had an incident where lo was gagging, and Oh overreacted and had her flipped and thumping her back, etc. hes not sure about blw. we decided to give it a bit and try again as it was a bit early.

well time has flown! shes just turned 7mmonths somehow...lol. just wondering if theres any other late weaners out there?

or anyone around 7 months what are your babies eating?

My LO is 10 months and has only JUST started eating solids. He was never really interested until around 8/9 months, and still only has tiny amounts now!

Mine might as well just be on the milk the amount she eats!! I offer food for breakfast, lunch and tea but most of it goes on the floor - I reckon we're lucky if she swallows 3 times!! It has been really stressing me out but after reading through the BLW thread in the weaning section I have had a word with myself and am going to CHILL!! She will get there - our babies won't be powered by milk at 15 :haha:

It must have been pretty scary seeing your LO in distress - mine had gagged a fair few times and it shits me up every time. I thought this weaning malarkey was meant to be fun!!!

So yeah, my LO has dropped no milk feeds and today actually had an extra feed as she is just not getting satisfaction from food :( Sure it will all come together soon though. Good luck!

Mine didn't swallow any solid food till about 8 months. She's a chunk! Loves her grub now at 18 months. :)

mine is so difficult. he doesnt always want to eat his puree. i am tired making his puree. so i do BLW too. and puree. it is so annoying. it is like he prefers to eat himself. i dont know. but yea i would say he eats as much as a bird, but is rather a chunk compared to a bird.

My little girl is 7 months and only gets offered one meal a day, dinner, some days she does get offered more. At the moment she isn't eating very much most days but today she did attempt more than she has before - cucumber, tomato, cheese, rice cake and grabbing her water cup.

I was getting stressed about us it but in the last week I've become much more relaxed about it all. She's getting there, she's still learning and I'm not going to rush her.

Good luck

My LO is 8 months and still not eating a lot. I offer it, but its very touch and go.

"Food before one is just for fun"

thanks for the replies ladies :) feel free to keep updating what ur lo's are eating

katerpillar - i wasnt too fussed about her gag incident - that is until oh swooped in and freaked out lol. he had her flipped and thumping on her back in one second. of course lo was fine as she wasnt actually choking - she just looked amused that she was all of a sudden upside-down

i was going to give her some potatoes and carrots from my stew tonite, but the stew ended up being really spicey so prob not. i put a sweet pepper in and it was a super hot one. i think im just gonna give her some banana pieces to chew on while we eat dinner

My LO was only on milk until she was 11 months! She loves food now but had no interest at ALL before then!!

And I know how stressful it is - I totally stressed myself over it! But try not too, your LO will get there eventually :)

we ended up going out this aft. got home and planned to let her eat in the highchair before bathtime - well, she had a massive poosplosion - during onesie removal it ended up on her head/face even lol

so she went right into the bath. after that, was ready for sleep as aft nap was skipped over.

so, no 'food' today.

:haha: These poosplosions have a lot to answer for!!! They get everywhere!! Well, tomorrow is another day my friend!

My LO spent today at Nanas as I'm doing a day a week at work at the minute to ease myself back into it. So, my Mam told me she had:

- Half a piece of toast
- A WHOLE banana
- 2 rice cakes
- 3 bread sticks
- Bowl of vege stew
- Yoghurt

I smiled and said wow what a good girl :winkwink:

If I ate all that I would be full!! So, yeah, taking that with a pinch of salt and loving the fact her Nana is so pleased to have her.

holy shit that seems like alot, lol!

sounds like ur mum might have the tendency to stretch things like my mil does lol. so does my oh, im constantly calling him on his exaggerations. funnily enough, he's a minimiser when it comes to say, gaming.

example, oh: 'i took lo out for a two-hour walk' 'ive been gaming for about a half hour'

reality- 1hr walk with lo, 2 hours of gaming

how does your lo get on when shes at moms? does she go down for naps ok?

ah, dam. just realized i forgot to pick up pears at the grocery today. i wanted to try those on lo. they were on special too.

My lo took to food so fast in the beginning.... Now she takes a bite and drops it on the floor till her whole plate is on the floor. But if I offer bread - watch out!!!! She is like a crazed animal! And her oatmeal and yogurts - gosh, I should offer at bathtime! She refuses to be fed and insistent to do it herself. She loves food but I've scaled back blw, or stuck to foods I'm comfortable with due to her gagging bad last week.

She loves boob - often takes an extra feed too!! Or maybe she's increasing them! Yikes!

about what size bread pieces are u giving, thinkpositiv?

yeah, my lo is a boobie-monster too, shes on it every 2hrs in the day, and multiple times in the night

I give her the whole slice with crusts off.

Ok, I don't feel so alone! My lo feeds like a newborn too. Every 2-3 hours during day! I joke bc I thought as they got older they could go longer between feeds. This is my day - up by 7, boob, solids, nap, boob, boob, nap, boob, solids, boob, boob, bed 6-30-7! Usually doesn't wake to feed but if she wakes and hubby can't settle, boob! But, I don't know what's up, breastfeeding feels very sensitive, wierd last 2 weeks to the point sometimes I have to take her off.... Pregnant or impending return of mensturation - regardless, if this continues and I can't tolerate it, I don't know what I will do with my boobie monster!!!

She's demanding too!!!! Before I pull it out she grabbing and trying to pull her while body in direction of milk!!! She's become a little monster!!!

i remember back at her 2month shots/check, the doctor said she should be going 4hrs between feeds by then....

now that shes crawling, when im sitting on the floor and she decides shes hungry, she just crawls on over and into my lap and pulls on my shirt/yells atmy boobs

so, pretty uneventful week for blw. only one night she had some banana. did pretty well with it. it got slimy pretty quick tho and hard for her to grab, and she ended up just yelling at it, lol.

Awe! I found lo handles bananas better like a banana popcicles ( never give a whole bandanna always cut lengthwise or if lrg chunks bitten off it perfect diameter for chocking)- I cut the banana towards end with skin on then trim a bit of skin around end off to expose flesh - you can keep trimming it as they eat down what's exposed.

Ya..... My lo likes milk
