Hey guys...

I am schedule to go in for an ultrasound next Tuesday when I will be 7 weeks
along. Will I be able to hear the heartbeat during this ultrasound?

Thanks!

From what I was told, probably not. I thought they just did a TVUS to "see" the heartbeat, at least that's what my appointment was for @ 7weeks. This is my first pregnancy though, so I could be wrong.

It depends on the Sonographer who is scanning you as mostly these scans are visual, i.e they don't usually have the sound on unless they are looking at cord blood flow etc....(Which isn't usually looked at at such an early gestation, but it is possible!) Generally you woud have a scan and where there is a heartbeat, you would be shown this on the scan, as you can see the heart pulsing away.
-Sometimes if you are a little less further on than thought, you won't see a heartbeat, but don't be alarmed if this happens at such an early gestation!

Good luck!

They may be able to see the heart beating but may be unable to hear it at this stage.

I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks and I could see the heart beating but couldnt hear it. And dont be disappointed when all you see is a little bean with a heartbeat, because you wont be able to see any features that look like a baby at that point. But regardless, its amazing to see its little heart beating away:) You will be able to hear the heartbeat at your next appt with the doppler.
