I had my DD by EMCS in October last year after a prolonged obstructed labour, and apart from a small infection at one end where a stitch was poking out, my recovery was uneventful, if a little slow. The scar is still fairly red and bumpy in places but it's gradually settling, and once it has fully matured it'll be pretty neat. It's quite long, as DD was a lot bigger than they expected her to be and they had to widen the incision a bit so they could work. I have a copper coil in, which took a little while to settle, but it is all ok now and I wouldn't know it was there.

I regularly carry her in a sling (mostly full buckles at the moment), and she's still not a peanut - 24lb 8oz, which is 99th centile at her age. After I've carried her for a little while, the area around the incision aches, and it can be sore for up to a couple of days afterwards. It feels like internal aching as well, not just the skin and soft tissue.

Also, I'm currently on my 3rd AF pp, and feeling some pretty strong pains around the scar. It feels almost raw...like a dialled down version of how the pain was when the incision was healing. My actual period pains aren't really that bad, but this scar pain is horrible :( I get the same thing to a much lesser extent if I'm a bit bloaty too.

Does this all sound pretty normal? Will it settle down eventually?

After my first, which was an EMCS, I do remember having some scar pain. There wasn't any direct cause for it, just if I did too much it would end up hurting. My doctor reassured me it was normal and suggested that I take a break if it got to be too much.
I ended up getting pregnant again at 6 months PP, and the entire pregnancy I would get really bad scar pain. I was told it was because of the uterus stretching and it was fine.

Now 8 months PP from my second CS, I have literally no pain. IMO, as long as the scar isn't red, swollen, or bruised looking, I would think you are ok. You can always follow up with a doctor if you are really unsure.
