My daughter just turned 9 months on the 12th. She has no interest in crawling. She hates being on her stomach. She doesn't roll over. She likes standing if I hold her up. She will hold onto the couch if I put her there. She will pull herself up into a sitting position if I have her hands and she will pull herself into a standing position if I have her hands. She is great in fine motor skills. She weighs 20 pounds, I don't know if that makes a difference. I know all babies learn at a different pace but is this anything I should be worried about??

nothing to worry about at all! as you said, all babies are different, and some skip the crawling stage altogether - none of my older sister's 3 ever crawled. wouldn't be surprised if that's what your lo is doing. hayden was a roller, but never showed any interest in crawling of any kind until 10 months or so. he now kind of commando crawls, but can only get up on his hands and knees for a short time. he also pulls himself up holding onto someone's hands, or anything he can get a good grip on, and very soon after he started that he started to walk holding onto hands. not cruising furniture yet, though. i love the differences - means you never know what's going to happen next!

My DD is 9 months old today and hardly sits on her own never mind crawling. She is capable of sitting on her own bc she has done it many times she just doesn't feel like it, lazy baby I have! Lol

Thank you for your responses.
I put stuff in front of my daughter and even crawl myself which she laughs at lol. She will push up on her hands and lift her upper body but won't get on her knees. If I put her on her knees she slides like Bambi on ice. Lol. Sometimes I wonder if she is just being lazy..

I wouldn't worry about it. Ours just started proper crawling at 10+3 months and now he is into everything. Our friends children were crawling waaaaay earlier and that gave me some pause I admit it. However, then I looked at my beautiful happy healthy boy and gave myself a mental kick in the arse for comparing - they will get to it in their own time.

:coffee:

Thank you for the reassurance. She is my first baby and I get so worried. We have been doing a little more tummy time. She didn't seem to mind it too much today. :) Hopefully she will get it down as soon as she's ready and I will be wishing she would stay out of eveything lol.

LO is 11mths today and only been crawling commando style (but not very good at it) for under three weeks.

All her pals (slightly younger) are walking now!:haha:

We are having a small party in a mths time. I am sure she will be sat on the floor whilst all the other babies are running circles round her!

Dont worry about it hun. I know it isnt easy. Very hard not to compare, but your LO's time will come.

I read somewhere that by 2years all babies are at the same developmental stage-some just take longer to get there! It doesnt mean your baby is developmentally backwards:thumbup:

My Lo has only been crawling for 4 weeks now! I also worried about it but seriously enjoy it while they sit still....its hard work x

My first born never crawled! he did a funny one knee one foot thing to get around from about 10 months and then didnt walk until 16 months! They get there in the end, no need to worry :) xx

Both the 9 months old at the baby massage I go to can't crawl. I don't think its anything to worry about at all. I remember wondering when lo would roll over and the next day she did it!

Thank you ladies so much! :)
It made me feel so much better to read your responses! The other day I put her on her tummy, she got up on her arms and pushed herself backwards about 2 feet.
So that's a start. :)

Frankie didn't roll until he was 8.5 months, even then he wouldn't do it all the time. He was fine on his tummy, got his chest and upper body off the flour easily but had absolutely no interest in moving. I don't think he even understood that he could move! Then, one day aged nearly 11 months he pushed himself up onto his hands and feet(!!) and that was the start of it. Within a week he was up on his hands and knees rocking, and then commando crawling. Within two weeks he was very fast at commando crawling and had developed the skill of bottom shuffling!! By the end of the next week he could crawl properly and now he is pulling himself up on furniture and cruising, climbing the stairs, getting down the single step from our front room into our library and is crawling at a great speed!! All within just over a month. When they're ready, they're ready! xx

Aww, that's so cute! Thank you for sharing! She will go when she's ready. I guess I'm just ready for her to start going. Everyone tells me to enjoy it while she's happy sitting lol.

My LO is 9months and she has no notion of crawling. she barely takes weight on her feet- she is content to sit upright all the time. she only started to roll over properly this last 2 weeks.... im kinda feeling the same as you... im wondering why she isnt doing this or that but i know that she will do things when she is good and ready and so will your LO too

It does worry me but she seems content with sitting just like your baby. She reaches out far for toys but she's no interest in crawling to get closer to them.

No crawling here either and my DS is 9 mths on friday, he loves tummy time as well and sleeps on his tummy! he gets onto all fours and then collapses and pushes himself backwards! it doesn't bother me, but yesterday he had a settling in session at the nursery and one of the girls thought he was under 7 months cus he's not doing much - and that hurt!! he loves sitting and playing with his toys, reaching them and passing them between hands, so i don't think we've got anything to worry about??
He's such a content, happy little man that moving around obviously doesn't bother him..
One of the boys at the nursery who's exactly a month older than DS is walking around!!

You're right. I don't think we have anything to worry about. My daughter moves around on her butt now and crawls in my lap for me to pick her up. She had a check up today and her doctor didn't say anything about her not crawling. So I'm glad it's nothing to worry about. :))

My daughter didn't crawl until she was almost a year! She had zero interest in it, and when I look back I just think about how lucky I had it! She couldn't get into any trouble! Lol!

Sounds like your daughter is right on track with where she needs to be!

My LO will be 9 months in 1 week and doesn't properly crawl.
he just scoots.
