a couple of sterilising questions

hi hope you can help....

No.1 - for the past 5 months i have used sterilising fluid (i have always cold water sterilised) but someone has given me some sterilising tablets. I have used these a couple of times but it makes the water a bit cloudy/bitty! Is it supposed to do this? They dont smell sterilised like they did before!!

No.2 - when do you stop sterilising bottles?? Some people have told me 6 months, others 1 year!

I have found the tablets and the liqued are different and they do smell different. I just use which ever the shop has, I think it must be just the way they mix with the water. I have found the water does clear quite quickly with the tablets though.
As for how long, I have always sterilised up to 1 year, thats the guidelines.
