Hi there. My girlfriend and I began having sex a few months ago. We're both 16. However, her period is now 12 days late. Now, we have always been responsible about everything: ie. never had sex without a condom and I never even ejaculate inside of her despite not wearing a condom.

Normally, she has quite sporadic periods, most likely due to her age and the fact that sex is a new thing in her life, however they have never been more than 4 days late. Is this indicative of a pregnancy? What would be a time where we begin to consider that she could be pregnant?

We're attempting to find pregnancy tests, but based on my location, this is nearly impossible. So I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice until my order arrives.

Thanks very much. I'm not looking for advice on contraception or morality, so please refrain from that.

Hi there, im sorry you are having to go through this, the Maybe baby stage is the hardest!

normally you can test up to 9-18 days after conception and get a positive reading. being 12 days late could be an early sign of pregnancy however other things such as stress, diet and things like that can result in a late period.

if you need advice on anthing else you can always come to me :)

i hope things go well for you both!

Yes. It is an indication and she should buy and take pregnancy test.

This thread will be closed because we really can't answer questions like this. Good luck!

Thanks very the extremely timely response and being reassuring :)

I wondered whether I would be scrutinized for being a male in a predominantly female environment :P

In the event of a pregnancy, she is anti-abortion, which I respect even if it isn't my first choice. I attempt to convince her that it isn't the best choice, because it means trading her life away to take care of the baby (she has very big goals in life), but she seems adamant that it's best to keep the baby despite being in high school.

Based on your experience, is it a wise choice to get an abortion at the age of 16?

Thanks again, I appreciate it a lot.

It's against the rules to talk of abortion on this forum. We are all keeping our babies so can't offer any advice on anything otherwise.

This board is full of women and Mothers TTC, pregnant, and also Mothers that have lost their children.

I don't want to hear about abortion, and neither does anyone else.

i must worn you, any mentions of abortion on the site are a big no no.
i would give anythign to still have my baby with me,
my loss is hard to deal with.
i cant imagine ANYONE just doing that.

your not allowed to discuss abortion on here, many, including myself find this very very upsetting

and who the hell are you to tell her to get one anyway? you dont want it, YOU GO!

We don't discuss abortions here. All the girls on the board are keeping their babies.

Lots of things can cause a period to be late, I didn't have one for 3 months once literally due to stress at uni :dohh: If you have been as safe as you say you have then I wouldn't worry too much although I would definitely take a test just to be sure. Nice to see you're being supportive either way and if it turns out she is pregnant you are both more than welcome here :hugs: xxx

EDIT: woah maybe not :/

we ar not trying to be rude, but there are many people experiencing loss, and its hard enough to deal with without thinking of how many peeople choose the easy way out.
if you are "responsible" enough to have sex then you should be "respoinsible " wnough to raise a child
thats as nicely as i can put it.

And jeez if in the 'event of a pregnancy' and you would rather just get rid of it because it doesn't suit you i suggest you review your contraception methods.
