Hi, I really want Beatrix as a middle name. Love the name, but don't want it as a first name as I can see it being shortened to Trixie - which would drive me bananas.

Ideas for a first and possibly second middle name to go with it? I wanted Astrid and Luna but my OH isn't keen at all. I also quite like 'Alice', but feel like its such a safe option.

Astrid Beatrix sounds lovely.

Could you not have Beatrix and shorten it to Bea instead of Trixie?

Or how about
Alba Beatrix
Aluna Beatrix
Alicia Beatrix

Astrid Beatrix is far too much together but I think but classic names work well

I love your sons name but im biased, some suggestions:

Josephine (nn. Josie maybe)
Lana
Arianna
Paige
Talia
Allegra
Heidi
Lorelei
Tansy

"her royal majesty Princess of the Netherlands" of course. what other name would you need? ;)

I think personally I like it more as a first name than a middle name though. having it as a firstname you can "outweigh" the aggressive/strong -ix syllable at the end with a softer name and make it sound a bit less hard.

I think classical names fit great with it...
like :
Elisabeth (I personally prefer the pron. Eleezuhbett)
Anna
Rebecka
Johanna
Emilie/Amalia
Charlotte
Caroline/Karoline
Maria/Mary/Marie
Alexandra

On a not so conservative side view "Beatrix Medina" sounds beautiful in my opinion.
Hannah Beatrix is also nice.

I personally wouldn't take Heidi or Loreley. with poor kid will be laughed at and being called like a legendary suicide case is also not very nice. :(

with very "english"-sounding names like Alice I'd be careful, because Beatrix is a pretty strong name...could sound a bit weird.

My niece is Beatrix and she gets Bea. It's a lovely name. Her sisters are Hettie and Thea x

Ooo lots to think about, thanks! As a first name, it's growing on me a little.

Go for it. You obviously love the name. Bea is a cute nn too :)

I love Beatrix and Bea as a nickname is so cute. I'd totally use it as a 1st name! Some suggestions with Beatrix as the mn:
Cecily Beatrix
Hazel Beatrix
Ivy Beatrix
Clara Beatrix
Daphne Beatrix

I think Alice Beatrix sounds really nice. You could go for a longer name shortened to Alice if you felt like Alice alone was too safe (I know what you mean, I really like it but I'm put off using it because it feels too safe/not enough; LO will have Alice as a mn if its a girl though). There is a little girl at DD's gym named Alice and I found out this week that her full name is actually Calista (sp?).

Beatrix is lovey. She could have the nn Bessie. Beatrice is beautiful too and very similar

It's a relly nice first name and if she has a nickname already, it doesn't need to become Trixie. Anyway I think a lot of people would agree that it's not a nickname they want either lol
If you also like Beatrice, that could be an option to practically eliminate the Trixie problem, though it's not really the same name I think it's lovely.

Alice is not "safe" in my opinion, it's a beautiful, classic name with nothing but good associations, very pretty, not the most common but not weird, a lot of good things in a name to be used for all her life!

Uhhhh I just had a thought and LOs initials would be 'BJ' - I might need to strike that off...

I'm now thinking perhaps just Alice Beatrix, Alice Elisabeth Beatrix, Alice Beatrix Lydia. I'm quite keen on two middle names, but I think it could be too busy.

Umm....What about Josie-Meredith-Beatrix. Just 1 that came to me. Xx

I'm biased but I love Alice- we get lots of compliments on it.

Other names I think go well with Beatrix are

Ellenor
Charlotte
Victoria

I think out of your ones Alice Elisabeth Beatrix is nice... very classic and sounds like she could be some great female author

Ava, Edie, Violet, Cora, Poppy, Isla, Nova, Lola, Rosa, Flora, Phoebe, Florence, Daisy??
